You'd think Jaime being strikingly good looking, would have been the one brought into McLaren as Hamilton's replacement. :D

Emm...Whitmarsh doesn't appear to think so but clearly you do. :P

I'm just saying...

I am secure enough in my masculinity to be able to say Jaime is a good looking guy and say it WHILE I'm wearing a pink shirt.

TMI...

Ahh...yes, now that's confidence in your portrayal of masculinity. :hehe:

Alguersuari could be heading to either Sauber, Findia, Williams even the green lotuses. i think good fit to any of those.

Yeah. He deserves another chance. Toro Rosso provided him with less-than-flattering exposure, and at the tender age of only 19 too!

No he doesn't! Aside from trashing a Torro Rosso in Suzuka I can't think of any memorable moments from him.

A quick reminder then:
- Early 2010, Australia I believe, keeping Schumacher at bay for most of the Grand Prix in le grand Cane Rosso (because that was a total dog of a car) and scoring his first points at Malaysia and then Spain
- Valencia 2011, 8th in that race with 24 finishers (behind the 6 top guns and Rosberg)
- Best qualifying of his career a 6th place at Spa, only to be taken out by Mr. Bruno on the first corner
- Goes from 18th to 7th at Monza two weeks later (best finish)
- 7th again at Korea (after Red Bull-McLaren-Ferrari)
- Overall, 26 points in the 2011 season, one short of Di Resta (who was driving a better car and is now being tipped for a seat at the top teams)

All of this driving a back-midfield car (9th best at 2010, 8th at 2011 as Williams failed miserably). He was ultimately fired when he was on his top form for Toro Rosso, with his best results all happening on the latter half of 2011. He has all the potential of a hot prospect (in the current grid, the only driver younger than Jaime is his replacement, JEV... by a month's difference), with two and a half years of experience. He never had a chance in a proper midfield team, and I see no reason for why shouldn't he get one.

Yup.
Alguersuari is consistent, with the occasional very good race. Very classy in the way he handled the whole TR fiasco. Can very well drive for anyone in the midfield. I think he'll get a seat.

Alguersuari is also gentle with tires. He must get another chance.

I think there are better options out there.

Yes, Glock and Bianchi.

I don't know about Bianchi but yeah Glock is better. So is Petrov, Massa and Schumacher, to name 3 drivers who are, it seems, without a seat for next year.

Well if you compare the lower formula results Bianchi is better and he as driven the Force India and Ferrari the year, I don't think Jamie has even raced this season?

I've not seen any GP2 or anything like that for a while so only really hear about these newer drivers when they start in F1.

Aglusomethingorother is the Pirelli test driver in a 2 or 3 year old car.

Given Jaime's age and the way he ended 2011, I'd say he definitely deserves another chance - certainly one with a decent team, rather than the poorly-managed Toro Rosso.

Anyway. Seeing as Sauber are retaining TelMex backing next year, can we take this as an indicator that Gutierrez will be one of their drivers?

Plus after a year driving for Pirelli, he might know something others dont about next years tyres ;)

very interesting predictions from Martin Brundle and Anthony Davidson on next seasons lineup.

Hulk to Ferrari

Bianchi to FI

Massa + Gutierrez to Sauber

Bottas to Williams

Sutil to Caterham

Chilton to Marussia

Van Der Gaarde to HRT

The Ferrari one is the big one, and I dont think the FI/ Sauber seats amongst others will be sorted until we know what Ferrari are doing, and they seem to be in no rush
