'The Time Traveller's Wife', by Audrey Niffenegger - I've heard mixed reviews - is it any good?

I really enjoyed it :) There does seem to be quite mixed views on it though - personally, I liked the way the story was written and told.

I've just finished The Magicians by Lev Grossman. I think it's meant to be a grown-ups Harry Potter with a bit of Narnia mixed in for good measure. Liked the first 2/3 of the book; thought the end 'adventure' was really, really lame.

Just finished "The Treasure of Atlantis" by J. Allan Dunn.

Fantasy adventure which sees an orchid hunter leads an expedition off to South America where they find the Lost City of Atlantis still thriving. Quite a short book but a nice read, if a little silly - full of all the normal things you find in books like this - intrigue, power, corruption, swashbuckling fights... :)

So you like fantasy, then?

Yes, it's my favourite genre and fantasy and computer books are really the only types of books I buy. But I read pretty much anything :)

That's cool. I only like a few fantasy books.

Has anyone read "A Doll's House" by Henrik Ibsen?
I think it's actually a play but I have to read it for my English class so I was wondering if anyone has an opinion on it.

Still reading my Williams book, been making good progress and enjoying it but I've hit the wall again as I've reached the dreaded Imola 1994 chapter... in every book so far that has that fateful weekend mentioned I've ended up stalling for a week or so before I can pull the courage to read on, bringing back memories of one of F1's darkest weekends...

In the mean time I think for my next book I'll read James Hunt's biography or a book on the Prost/Senna feud.

Actually there are only certain chapters that pertain to and are usefull to a police officer so I do not actually have to read and know the entire book so I get to cheat  . As a whole there are about 1K pages worth of info I need to know and I have read them already so I'm just brushing up so to speak.

Still a very daunting task I must say :hehe: .

Texas is weird - lol!

This one is particularly interesting: From Dallas: It’s illegal to possess realistic dildos.

What's their problem? Tz tz tz...

Have you heard of Graham Joyce? If you like fantsay you'll love him. I've read several of his books. They tread the fine line between fantasy and reality. One of his books 'the tooth fairy' was nearly made into a film but he puled out because he didn like the American slant they put on his book. Never the less he's won several prizes for his books. Google him, he's well good!!

Ah yes, and my Diamond State has some interesting laws, particularly in Rehoboth Beach, which is an interesting place anyway...

Going back to reading, I finished Perfume. An excellent book. Then I watched the movie. Also excellent.

You would have to make that recommendation just after I come back from book shopping :irked::hehe: I've just had a quick look at his site and his work looks pretty interesting - have added The Tooth Fairy to my Amazon wishlist so will probably end up buying it on the next book buying spree I go on. Thanks for the recommendation

I bought Shadow's Edge by Brent Weeks this morning - the second book in his Dark Angel trilogy. The first book was awesome so I have high hopes for this second one :)

I started reading 'Brave New World' but lost interest, so now I'm reading 'Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas', which I've been putting off for years, having seen the film and wanting to free my mind of the inevitable preconceptions. My favourite thing I've read recently was 'Light Years' by James Salter which was absolutely beautiful, it's now in my top books I've ever read.

Has anyone else read 'Brave New World' or struggled with it? I feel I may be giving up on it too soon...
