Raikkonen did gain an advantage, he built up extra speed on the run off area which took him passed N.Heidfeld into 3rd place.
As I said in the beginning if L.Hamilton had done the same maneuver there would have been a stewards inquiry.

No there wouldn't...

yes there would :banghead:

I don't recall Hamilton ever being in exactly that situation so it's a bit of a presumption to say that the stewards would have acted differently if it was him. We simply don't know that.

I think you mean 2008, but Lewis cut the chicane to stay ahead of Vettel because the overtaking move was a mess and required him to brake far later than would allow him to take the chicane.

Since Ferrari only entered one competitive car at Spa, the stewards let kimi do whatever he needed to run enough speed for 2 Ferraris.

Lukas pre race brief to kimi:
"Remember, Kimi, you're speeding for two now."

I actually thought Kimi was pretty smart there. And if the stewards were on to him he could just say I didn't want to hit a car and ruin someones race :)

using the run off area has been used before surely, he didn't do something that the other drivers would make sure they didn't, its not like corner cutting where they all know thats wrong.

The reason starts with "Fer" and ends with "Rari"

That is old that joke. And it isn't the case nor was it in the past.

He didn't do anything wrong, dont bring the fact that he was driving a ferrari into this matter as then its bullpoo

yeah before the FOTA vs FIA fight perhaps but now..nah besides button did the same thing...

Regardless of who is driving what car, Kimi Raikkonen did gain an advantage by accelerating up the run off area instead of rejoining the track straight away. Expect the FIA to tighten up the rules on run off area in '10. An electronic device that limits the engine to 10,000rpm while out of track bounds maybe?

Seem's that it does not matter who is driving a Ferrari as they and their action's will alway's be frowned upon. How about let's reverse the situation as if it was Hami/Kovi who ran wide to avoid contact and ruining their race in the first corner, would this topic even exist?

Oh it would be paaaaaaaages longer :hehe:
But the point is the continuing lack of clarity and consistency by the stewards. If they were consistant there would be no debate about what would happen if a different driver or team pulld the same stunt.
