Looks like he's pretty certain to be staying with Renault. Good. I think he has potential.

agreed.

It's fair enough if he stays, he was solid enough this season - perhaps slightly inconsistent but you could say the same about Hulkenberg and Kobayashi really. I like his style, ballsy and not intimidated easily (see Alonso in the last race and his fighting with Hamilton in... Malaysia?).

For his role in Abu Dhabi, I wouldn't mind if he stayed in F1 for the next 10 years. All the best Petrov.

Hes a rising star. If hes lucky he will be like his teammate Kubica who drive a competitive car last year and this year. If hes not so lucky he will be like Kubicas ex teammate Heidfeld who still try to get himself fit into an F1 team..

Hey guys,

So with Petrov failing to be listed on the official list for 2011, I wanted your opinions on whether he deserves a drive; and if not, who?

My opinion of him was pretty consistent throughout the season: that I didn't think he had any chance of getting a drive next season. However, he did a tremendous job in Abu Dhabi in holding up a two-times world champion in a considerably better car than him, despite the fact that Alonso is rubbish at overtaking. But, I honestly do not see Petrov being a world champion, even with a better car. What is unfortunate is that I can see Hulkenberg as a world champion one day, and I think it's just tragic that Williams have dropped pure talent in favour of a payout from Maldonado.

What do you think? Should Heidfeld get a chance to drive with Renault next season, will they make a bid for Hulk, will they stick with Petrov or go for someone completely different..?

You could continue the discussion already taking place about Petrov  ,

Oh lord! another FA bashing thread

Newbies right  (making fun of others Spanners not you) . Also you could stop hiding your 'online' status F1er, thats so pathetic and you do realize anyone with any common sense realizes your online  .

Easy on the online status tex, its a valid option for users of the forum. It's not a big deal really?

Indeed, I hide my online status and we don't see anybody complaining about that do we?

Back to the subject at hand, Petrov is undoubtedly quick, but very wreckless. I think he could be better in his second season now he has a full season under him. He seems to come across as a bit of a nervous and tad pessimistic driver sometimes, he wasn't optimistic about the first corner at Hungary, but then look how his race turned out, finished a fine 5th.
