wonder what Bernie and Max are cooking up

they will try and hold Ferrari and the Redbull teams to their 2012 contracts in an attempt to split FOTA.

i think that will be fine. Ferrari and co can send B rate teams until 2012 never update their cars and run rookies. while the Scuderia with Kimi and Massa will race in the continuum series :D

If they try to hold Ferarri to their contract...then they have to give them their agreed to Veto rights...don't they? You can't claim one without giving the other.

yeah i see it that way also, as do Ferrari! but whats the bet it will be a lengthy court battle that will last until 2012 while in the mean time Ferrari are racing in the FOTA and not the FIA series but when the FIA win the court battle.. hey its 2012 jolly good show you won the court battle but seeya later or should i say ciao stronso! :hehe:

I doubt very much that Ferrari will lose that court battle. They entered a conditional entry that Max/Bernie chose to ignore. They have a contract giving them Veto power that Max and Bernie chose to ignore. They can't be forced to live up to their end of the deal if the organizers broke the contract first. In fact, I would not be surprised if Ferrari sued and was awarded damages over it. They would have left this series and started another long ago without that Veto power....so they have been damaged by refusing to allow it. I think the BernieMax show is in serious trouble now. They are in debt up to their eyeballs, they've just lost their main attractions, they now have a competing series who will without question undercut them on everything financial because they have no debt to satisfy.....I predict F1 as a name is going to fail, and the new F1 will be the only show out there by 2011. BernieMax have only one hope and that is to fix this quickly, before FOTA gets their ball rolling.

Watching P2 on Speed and it sounds like the FOTA teams are over the moon about this breakaway. Which leads me to two thoughts:

1) How long have they been looking for a way to make this happen?

2) How long until MM gets the axe in an attempt for FIA to keep F1 together?

Bernie has just stormed out of the FAI motorhome pushing journos out his way. When asked what's going on he said "Ask Max".

Whoo-Hoo, hope it kicked off big style. My money is on Bernie trying to make Max see sense and compromise, Max told him its not going to change his stance

Bernie has to be pretty p'off with Max... I think it is pretty obvious to understand the teams have much more knowledge about how to make an interesting series (since they are the ones who provide everything from the technology, the show, the drivers and even sponsors!)

The way i see it, FOTA can build a superb breakaway and call in Bernie as an assistant :)

I can't believe the FIA is binding Ferrari and Red Bull with a silly contract... they can still run a B team at the cheap F1 and the serious stuff at the FOTA series.

Will the FOTA series allow tobacco and booze advertising? :hehe: i'm hoping for naked pit babes! :drink:

Max... it's time to go.

Whether or not Max gets the axe is irrelevant to FOTA, there is still the $2.2B debt of CVC which is unsustainable. Bernie and CVC know this and will use the excuse that the FOTA split caused the collapse of F1 and FOM.
