What is this ridiculous obsession with giving everyone a Point? All it does is make them worthless.

i disagree it would make people from 8 and below race more.

Why would it do that? They're already getting points. As it is now, they have to race more if they want any.

because teams like Force India, or STR or BMW wont get any points under normal circumstances, whats the point in racing for 0 points at the end of it.

IMO not every place should get a point, like top 15 or whatever, so atleast then its not almost given. but more places should be given points to spice up the constructors championship more than anything at the bottom half of it.

Because someone 16th 10 laps from the end currently has nothing to race for. If points went to 15th place then there would be a point to continue pushing.

if someone was 10th and got another point for being 9th and could catch someone then they might do it otherwise especially if they are fighting for the championship.

i'd take it down to 15th

if you keep it like it is now, a freak wet weather race wont put a team from bottom to 6th ot 7th either like it has in previous seasons.

i think half the field should get points. it would still be rare for the Force India types to score and would still be special but it would mean a more competitive field in the late stages of a race.

I think the points system is fine enough as it is. You can't argue that the championship isn't tight enough. The last two seasons the championship was decided by a single point. But we can't keep on having it tight all the time. It's about time a team blew everyone away again.

And the points are fine going down to just 8th. Or what about when they were 6 places? You couldn't argue that the back runners weren't tight. They were all on the same points all the time. (zero )

I think it's fine at 8th, and I can't wait to see FI finish in the top 8.

I just think symbolically, finishing in the top 10 or the top half if we get more teams is more significant than the top 8. 8 seems like a weird cutoff and is only important due to the current points system. I think people value finishing in the top half anyway

No, I doubt. It would've just been an above average day. But for them, it was a spectacular day.


I don't get why people want to change the points system now. People are turning it into a scapegoat. An excuse for the lack of overtaking. There's nothing wrong with the points system, so if its not broken don't fix it. Maybe add a point for pole position and fastest lap, but I'd say thats about it. Leave things as they are.

Also, drivers will fight for any positions. Whether it's 15th or 1st. Drivers are just the most competitive bunch out there, and of course they'll fight for say 14th or 15th place even if it means no extra points.
