I had my first major car accident today. I'm away in a small town 9 hours from home. I was driving through the national park and came to a bend and took it far too quickly. I'm a real

ing idiot to be frank.
But I think my fast reflexes saved my life. Instead of slamming on the brakes, I opted to hit the barrier at close to full speed but slowed enough to maneuver my car to take the impact sideways. My front-right wheel took most of the damage, and I did hit my head on the window - but my car was still drive-able and I was able to drive back to town after putting on my spare wheel.
Initially I thought I had totalled it -and I had no reception, so I flagged down some people driving past to give me a lift to the first town outside the national park. They drove me to a place where I could get reception - I called my nan to come and pick me up in case I can't fix my car and get stuck where there was no reception. To my surprise she said no.
2 bends later there was a massive cliff - if I had've slammed on the brakes I could've potentially fried them and then see myself going off that cliff - my brakes were due to be replaced.
I was a bit disappointed that my grandmother was not going to come out and get me considering I was in a car accident 2 hours away in a place that was out of range. But after limping back to town with a broken car and a very sore head I finally came back in range to find that the police were looking for me, which was a massive over-reaction from my grand mother considering that it was only 2 hours since I had called her.
Anyway, I'm alive and I have a car that I'm pretty sure is repairable, so that's the main thing.
