Yeah what's the point of that?

I had my first major car accident today. I'm away in a small town 9 hours from home. I was driving through the national park and came to a bend and took it far too quickly. I'm a real :censored: ing idiot to be frank.

But I think my fast reflexes saved my life. Instead of slamming on the brakes, I opted to hit the barrier at close to full speed but slowed enough to maneuver my car to take the impact sideways. My front-right wheel took most of the damage, and I did hit my head on the window - but my car was still drive-able and I was able to drive back to town after putting on my spare wheel.

Initially I thought I had totalled it -and I had no reception, so I flagged down some people driving past to give me a lift to the first town outside the national park. They drove me to a place where I could get reception - I called my nan to come and pick me up in case I can't fix my car and get stuck where there was no reception. To my surprise she said no.

2 bends later there was a massive cliff - if I had've slammed on the brakes I could've potentially fried them and then see myself going off that cliff - my brakes were due to be replaced.

I was a bit disappointed that my grandmother was not going to come out and get me considering I was in a car accident 2 hours away in a place that was out of range. But after limping back to town with a broken car and a very sore head I finally came back in range to find that the police were looking for me, which was a massive over-reaction from my grand mother considering that it was only 2 hours since I had called her.

Anyway, I'm alive and I have a car that I'm pretty sure is repairable, so that's the main thing.

Most important thing is you and all else are ok. You can fix stuff, but people are something different.

Next most important thing - you learn from your experience

Maybe Big Azza has earned a Maldonado collar lol

It is amazing how time slows down and how much you get to think about when stuff like that happens

...except for Maldonado... :P

Glad you're okay! Sorry to hear about the car but it's just a car, at least unlike Maldonado you took responsibility for your own muck ups.

Unfortunately, unlike Maldonado, you have to replace your own vehicle!!

I know - she just needs to be repaired - I don't think she's a right-off. I was able to drive back to town, it was a 2 and half hour trip. I ended up just getting a slight concussion and a very bruised head in the end. I think the steering just needs to be re-aligned and some electronics fixed. I've also got heaps of body work scraping along the ground...

At least one positive came from the accident - one of my dashboard lights wasn't working before - now it's working fine! :-)

I've had to extend my holiday by a couple of days... Hopefully Maggie the Magna will be okay.... :cryfloods:

So is it a glass of water between pints. Or can I just drink all the water before or after the session

Well the glass of water in between drinks is just the easiest way to remember, as a rule. I haven't read too much on it to know the science or anything, but I assume it is better to drink the water as you go since it helps your kidneys in the process and replenishes some of the fluid you're losing from your body.

No doubt being well hydrated beforehand helps as well. If you drink several cups of water or tea in the morning it helps prevent headaches and other problems, so drinking lots of water before you know you're going out with friends is a help as well. Or even a glass of water every two or three drinks is better than nothing at all. After a session seems nearly impossible to me since then you're just rehydrating, and when I'm not feeling well I personally can't drink a lot of water.

Never heard the popcorn thing, might have to try it.
