Get well soon RK

Did anyone see Senna throwing tacks onto the road just before the accident?

That isn't funny.

It's funny, it's inapropriate, but it's funny.

No, it's not. It's neither appropriate OR funny.

Nice tweets from his fellow racers:

http://twitter.com/NandoAlonso

This is Lewis' real Twitter: http://twitter.com/IamLewis4real

Thanks for these, interesting that neither Alonso nor Kovalainen mentioned "prayers" but thoughts, maybe atheists?

Sensible guys I hear Alonso has gone to the hospital to see him.

I hope that his injuries are not that serious and that he'll have a speedy recovery. Kubica get better soon.

That isn't actually Alonso's twitter account (he doesn't have one), its a fan account.

I almost created a Tweeter account just for this! but looked further and realised it was not 'his' official.

Jenson's is... so i might create a tweeter in case more drivers also get real official accounts.

BTW... still uneasy about Kubica. Real tragedy

So am I to understand now that his hand has been saved? It mentions on Autosport that the blood flow is back to his hand and all his other injuries are not life threatening.

His hand must be in bits.

Jenson, Rubens, Senna, Hamilton, Rosberg all have their own twitter accounts.

I think all the teams probably have accounts as well, along with journalists and other sportsmen

Robert should be out of surgery soon. We hope to be able to give you another update in a couple of hours.

Only just seen about this, terrible news.Well at least it looks like he's on the mend all be it slowly.Hopefully he can return fresh next season, but i spose the first thing is to get the hand working again first.Get well soon

A lot of paddles and buttons on that steering wheel....

I was expecting a speedy recovery after hearing about the crash this morning but, if the hand is as bad as reports say, he's not likely to be back in F1 any time soon.

Apparently so. It seems that they've managed to avoid amputation but the full extent of the damage is still unknown.

Terrible news for RK (at least his trademark nose seems to be unscathed ). Wish him well for his recovery, but I'm pessimistic and don't think we'll see him this season at all, maybe not even ever again in F1.
A chance for NH or the Hulk? I'm sure Renault Lotus, Lotus Renault (whatever their current name is) are already feverishly weighing their options, with attorneys looking into their contracts, and experience some healthy traffic from sidelined drivers knocking at their doors...

[zurich_allan]

Not good news from autosport - appears that his hand was in fact partially severed (I know there were some rumours, but these are now from an official source). Still, operation seems to have been successful as far as it can be for now. Here's the link...
