Just thought I'd bump this as I noticed people of late are saying that Petrov is not doing well. I think Petrov is a great driver, certainly better than that whatisface who used to be driving for that team. Petrov has demonstrated his raw speed, and he is just in his first season.

He has had a couple of good results, and he would have been on track for more if it weren't for his rookie mistakes or mechanical troubles.

Maybe next year we can have Piquet Sports in Formula One and have Nelson and Vitaly on he same team.

At Hungary Petrov showed how good he is. He out qualified Kubica on pure pace and was very consistent throughout the race. He was wise to allow Hamilton passed when he did too, if he tried to defend he may have lost more places.

Rookie of the year is between Vitaly & Nico imo.

Renault won't let Vitaly go if he pumps in two or three more races like that, which I think he will.

I think he's lovely. An he doesn't look like he'll throw a paddi when things dont go his way, seems grounded with bags of potntial, really hope he stays in.

Piquet will never return to F1 and Should never be allowed.

Hes a disgrace to sport and a total sellout.

Well Piquet I believe dropped out of F1 forever. Disgrace of Piquet family? Disgrace of F1 family? Well Nelsinho got down Flavio and Pat with himself...
he shouldn`t return and msotl ikely wont return. And F1 wont miss him.

Vitaly Petrov...Well you are as good as your last race. This time Vitaly was lucky to pull this good one just before the long long break, so people remember the good stuff. If he can keep this kind of performances constantly, he`ll be in the black/yellow car next year aswell, well if they stay in that skin ofcourse.
So the next few races are just as crucial as the Hungarian one, as sometimes there can be a glimpse of a good performance and then not so good. He hasn`t been so far the consistent driver, so lets see how he does at Spa and Monza. If ocne again on pace of Kubica, then he deserves to have a seat for sure.

Renault vs Mercedes? Well Petrov has been basically the one who didn`t score when the car was clearly capable of doing so. So now we can see how hard it is gettign for Mercedes, Renault could still take 4th place with some luck. We`ll see, but Petrov will be crucial in that battle.

Actually, since all I did was spend the day streaming the cricket, I can't really say anything...

I think Petrov did all right this season. He had some positives and some negatives. As always, I guess.
Obviously he has always been far from Kubica's pace with the exception of a couple of grands prix, perhaps. It's true that Robert is a very fine driver, but sometimes he was perhaps too far behind.
But recently he has upped his game coming into the top 10 regularly.

Another important negative point is that he crashed a bit too much. He did it mainly at the beginning of the season, but not only.
Some crashes were mistakes due to experience, but I am sure Renault hasn't been too impressed with some heavy-damaged cars.

Personally, I don't think he will retain his drive, although I hope to see him on the grid again next year.
