But the cars with it on have passed scrutinising, ie been declared legal, ...

A technical point, but worth making, in F1, just because a car doesn't fail scrutinizing, it doesn't mean its legal. As I mentioned, only some things on some cars are tested. It is like a spot test. You can pass that, but still have a car that is/was illegal. One of the more famous ones was the Tyrrell brake-fluid/ballast in the early 80's. Their car was disqualified after the race despite not failing scrutinizing.

The key thing is that only some things on some cars are tested/scrutinized.

They are saying FRIC is a moveable aerodynamic device, is it? doesn't it aid mechanical grip? And why have they only now decided its a moveable aerodynamic device? What didn't they call it that and ban it from the outset if that's what they think it is. And on the subject of moveable aerodynamic devices, isn't that what DRS is? Why don't they ban all the cars for having that particularly obvious moveable aerodynamic device?
It's ludicrous as usual.
This is spot on......

Because it reduces the nose diving or lifting under braking/accelerating and keeps the wing and floor at a more constant height and aids the aerodynamics that way.

The point is declaring to the stewards during scruteneering that you're running the system. They would then have to judge on it. Disallow it or approve it. If approved since nothing in the regulations forbids it, the from a legal standpoint the FiA can only move to ban it explicitly or capitulate and allow it until year's end.

Is it just me or should Mercedes AMG's indifference to remove their frick'n FRIC system be more worrying to the rest of the paddock? Several members within the team this past week gave the same sort of "Sure, we'll remove ours." with not as much as a whimper. When that doesn't slow them down to the rest of the pack, I wonder what the FIA will look for next. Anyone wanna place any bets on what gets banned next?

Such fun!

Very fast engines I reckon will be next in the firing line.

And, after that?? Very fast drivers? :bs:

Maybe. Lewis and Nico better start praying hard. :hehe:

Apparently what comes next from the online rumblings of the Tifosi on other forums is a a special exception allowing every engine manufacturers who's name doesn't start with an M to make performance improvements on their engines. To find the power they were apparently incapable of finding during the four years time they had to build their engines. All this just so they can try to come to an even playing field with the Mercedes engine that was on the grid in Australia. It's so unfair.

Let me tell you, Ferrari will show up next year with the numero uno, A-1, bestest of the best power plant because all of the improvements they're not allowed to make are stifling their competitiveness now will be applied over the winter and then you'll see.

tee hee... you did say from my keyboard... and God knows I don't want Ferrari to get stiffed. I'd like Hamilton to beat Alonso fair and square.

ooops... for a moment I thought you were going to complain about "stiff" keys!!
