Is it just me or is Kobi sorta channeling his inner Maldonado this year. Can't seem to put together a decent weekend to save his life. His problem may be that he has driven better cars and is trying to get the same performance out of the Caterham. Never gonna happen.

Yes, it seemed at times he was getting well ahead of the other guys at the back, but that's all he can really hope for.

Spanky, you pointed out that Monaco was the largest deficit these cars have had in speed versus the old spec. (you never point to the massively reduced aero though ) I think that the cooler temperatures didn't help, combined with the confines of the circuit and the fact that the loose rears from too much torque would have reaped quite a few DNFs.

Conversely, I think Montreal will see one of the smallest speed differences as compared to the previous specs, let's see.

We've been having a "coolish" Spring, this year! If Montreal is anything like T.O.,
the race just might be in for more of those cooler temperatures!

Renault have said their engines will run at full power for the first time at Csnada, and they are interested to see where they are in terms of the competition.

Also mentioned in the article was the fact that at this track fuel consumption will be important and energy recovery.
( that doesn't bode so well for the renaults as thry appeared to be the hungrier engines....bodes well for Lewis, he's generally one of the very lowest fuel users)

Technically the cars have more KW so it is all down to the Aero for difference in times.

regardless I'm sick of hearing about it, So were last years cars okay even though they were far slower than say 2005 spec cars? Or is it just Ferrari's woes that is compounding the need to bring down this season?

But we know that 2014 is a particularly bad regulatory change for F1, much much worse than any others where the speeds were reduced. Even going back to when they reduced engine size, and banned turbos and put grooves in the slicks. This year the cars are a couple seconds slower and although there have been much bigger deficits in the past that were always overcome quickly, this year 'oh here go hell come'

We know this because Montezemolo told us this, and what he says is more important than the actual spectacle we have seen with our own eyes at races like Bharain

The only truly dull races this year have been Sepang and Shanghai. Melbourne, Bahrain, Barcelona and Monaco were all pretty decent. We've seen a much higher ratio of boring races in previous seasons.

Luca looked pretty foolish in Bahrain trying to convince everyone what a catastrophic racing season the new specs had given us.
