You're stretching on this one. You've got no clue if Alonso is involved, he's just along for the ride, a clarification was asked for and an explanation given and everything is same as it ever was. :D

Well, that wouldn't be the first time Alonso "knew nothing" regarding a team controversy*, now would it?

-----------------------
*For want of a better word.

It happens, sometimes teams say that they stopped the car to prevent engine damage when the reality is that it was short on gas for scruteneering. Hamilton was asked to lie by his team.

We're in a sport that by its nature is filled with white lies and nobody's hands are clean, but that doesn't mean that we can just make something up or assume it was Alonso's decision to push for the flag controversy.

I reckon it was Massa's idead - just to give Alonso a bad name.

Pesonally I was alarmed by an incident early in the race where Alonso while being closely followed left the track, failing to make a corner, kept his foot down in the tarmac run off and shot out infront of the following traffic. This seems similar to past occasions where Lewis Hamilton has had to give up places or be penalised. Did anyone else notice this?

I noticed that, too, but couldn't decide whether or not he gained an advantage compared to the drivers around him, which is ultimately the criterion based on which stewards judge such incidents.

Yes, I don't think he made an advantage thought.

Thanks Jaberwocky. I don't think the stewards looked at this. I know the rules state you cannot retain a place by leaving the track. The gravel traps have been replaced by Tarmac as a safety improvement but I do not think you should be able to rejoin at full speed immediately in front of other traffic.

Just looked again at this, on Lap 4 Alonso leaves the track at one corner and heads directly to the exit of the next corner missing it completely. He looses one place to Hulkenberg but rejoins right in front of Webber. Surely he should have jejoined before the next corner.

It didn't go unnoticed, but indeed, if there is no advantage gained then it's a moot point. No different really than someone going off the track all on their own and then coming back.

After all it's the most common used way of avoiding a collision especially in the first few laps of a race when people are bunched up.

Ferrari's and Alonso's reputation takes another jump, for being the most sporting and undisputed winners in the sport. :)

All better :)

All better? It's been another dagger through the heart of the tifosi this year what do you mean all better? At least it's not as painful as the repeated dagger through the heart Hamilton fans suffered. Mclaren fans I'm not sure of if they're complacent because the team did have the same amount of race wins as Red Bull or if they felt a double world championship slip through their fingers AND lost their recent streak of 2nd place finishes in the WCC which is big bucks out the window. Personally I'm pained by both.

So is there any solace for the tifosi at least beating McLaren in the WCC?

I was just referring to my alterations to the post :)

It's always tough losing when you had a chance to win, but, as long term Tifosi, I've been through much tougher times than this. IMO the tough times only make the next victory all the sweeter

So, basically, Vettel did all 3 of those "suspicious" overtakes correct, when even meters were deciding? Damn, he's good! :D:drink:

The marshall might be waving a green flag on the right but the yellow lights in cockpit remained on until entering turn 4,but he still overtook,he should have known there were yellows (if that's the case)!

Give it up and take it on the chin, Nin-Chin.
