I wonder if anyone at McLaren have figured out if they didn't royally cockup Lewis' safety car pitstop, he would have won the race by getting out between Vettel and Alonso. With Vettel falling, I'm convinced Lewis could have managed his gap to Alonso and spared his tyres from the lead instead of chasing and burning them down to the core. So McLaren, back to their style of finding ways to blow opportunities. Fascinating! :irked:

I'm just saying...

Im sure they figured it. Thats probably why they had two press guys flanking lewis after the race and Lewis spouting that wooden spiel. Thats two likely wins and loads of points they've cost lewis.Had Lewis got out in front he could have run in clear air, managed the tyres and wouldnt have had to pass those other cars that he fell behind, that should have given at least the two more laps he needed before the tyres went.

Can someone explain to me why Alonso did not get penalized for not returning to the winners circle with his car...does that not constitute a penalty? I remember a few races back when a Maclaren did not have enough fuel to return , they were disqualified...what am I missing??

That's your first post??

I'm a big Hamilton fan but when I saw the incident live I thought "FFS Lewis, just let the <EDITED FOR CONTENT> through".

4 hours on, my opinion hasn't changed. Pastor has history. However, a 20 second penalty doesn't really cut it compared to the 5 place (deserved) penalty for Kobi and the 10 (yes, TEN) place penalty for Vergne. Kobi has some form in the crash area, so does Pasty, but Vergne? I know it was a really stupid hack across Kovi but, in the grand scheme of things, did it really matter? Kovi wasn't going to get any points. And he wasn't even taken out of the race. A ten place grid penalty?

This is what annoys me in F1, the total inconsistency. Despite Lewis being <EDITED FOR CONTENT> enough to assume that Pastor was less of an <EDITED FOR CONTENT> than he is, the crash was 100% Pastor's fault. A 20 second penalty doesn't send any kind of message to him. He denied any liability saying it was Hamilton's fault. This is as much of a lie as Lewis in Oz 2010, as far as I'm concerned. The evidence is clear.

Vergne on the other hand said, and I'm paraphrasing, "I haven't seen the replay but I thought I was past him and I moved right. If it was my fault I will accept responsibility"

So, Vergne accepts responsibility and gets a 10 place grid drop. Pastor is in cloud-cuckoo-land by denying any blame and he gets off with, let's face it, a reprimand.

By the way, Alonso showed just how good he is today. What an absolute diva in a car. He deserved the win and deserves to lead the WDC. Total class.

Edit: bad grammar

Im really surprised they didnt pull out a safety car for Vettel, maybe because Alonso was already leading and they didnt want to upset the fans lol.

Did they say what happened to vettel's car yet?

They failed. Press officers can't hide the rubbish.

They reckon it was altenator failure.

Wow, what a race.

Driver of the day has to be Alonso - an absolutely stunning drive. Got some luck with Vettel and Grosjean retiring but deserved the luck.

Raikkonen had a good race, and Schumacher's driving at the end was excellent. Webber was equally as good fighting through the field.

Hamilton in my opinion should have let Maldonado past. His tyres were gone and he was never going to hold Maldonado off for the last lap and a half. 5th or 6th would have been better than 19th (which he got by holding on too much). As far as im aware, didn't Maldonado get his penalty for "unsafely rejoining the track" rather than for causing a collision?

Thought the Caterham's did well before other cars started crashing into them from all angles.

Button and Massa were way off the pace again, don't know why they are so slow but both have work to do!

As was Grosjean's. Both made by Renault.

I feel another conspiracy thread coming on.....

:hehe:

I don't think Renault makes alternators.
I don't know about the questionability of french car electrics, whether it rivals that of the English.

Pastor's only wrong move was initiating the pass. Once committed, there's wasn't much he could do. Other than that I don't think eother did much bad.

It has been said in here before - the slightest contact results in an investigation and possible penalty. There are no longer any racing incidents. I miss those. In the distant past we expected to see them bouncing off each other's tires. If it ended in tears for one of them, that's racing.

compared to the 5 place (deserved) penalty for Kobi

This is what annoys me in F1, the total inconsistency.

Please, please, tell us more.

So... Kamui Kobayashi deserved a five-grid penalty for an unfortunate racing incident with Felipe Massa, which ended his race...

I guess... Bruno Senna must have TOTALLY DESERVED to earn one point today. After all, he didn't JUST get a drive-through penalty for taking Kobayashi out.

Please dont crash into lewis at turn one pastor :irked:

You were close.

Indeed :(

EPIC RACE!!! I KNEW grosjean wasn't going to finish :rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

I jumped off the couch and yelled in excitement when I saw vettel slow down, and again when I saw hamilton crash into the wall

Fernando Alonso is the $#@!ing MAN!!!!!!!!

Also, I wouldn't call hamilton's safety car pit stop a mistake by mclaren. There's nothing they could have done to know the jack was gonna fail. That's why they have two!! I don't think anybody is to blame for that, just a faulty jack.
#309305
Too bad for vettel and grosean. Really too bad. God damn Maldonado should have gotten grid penalty for the next race. Absolute BS that his penalty was so light. If this was on track, find 20 seconds, but he came from off track and hit him.

Button is duckling bottom. :( No reason he should be so far back.

Nice for schumi! :P

Nice for schumi! :P

Agreed. Even as a mark webber fan, if schumi had been penalized for the DRS issue and webber inherited the podium, I'd have felt pretty bad for MSC about that, despite my elation for webber. I like people getting beat fair and square!
