Im sure they figured it. Thats probably why they had two press guys flanking lewis after the race and Lewis spouting that wooden spiel. Thats two likely wins and loads of points they've cost lewis.Had Lewis got out in front he could have run in clear air, managed the tyres and wouldnt have had to pass those other cars that he fell behind, that should have given at least the two more laps he needed before the tyres went.
I wonder if anyone at McLaren have figured out if they didn't royally cockup Lewis' safety car pitstop, he would have won the race by getting out between Vettel and Alonso. With Vettel falling, I'm convinced Lewis could have managed his gap to Alonso and spared his tyres from the lead instead of chasing and burning them down to the core. So McLaren, back to their style of finding ways to blow opportunities. Fascinating!
