Actually I could care less about the Cold War as I only used it as an example of the seperation I feel is still perpetrated against them. Regardless of ones political views does not mean Russia should not have a F1 race, that is between them and Bernie regardless of your personal political agenda towards them. You do realise that someday, sooner rather than later, there most likely will be a Russian GP right?

I don't recall saying you did care about the Cold War, your post makes it pretty clear you don't.

What does the fact it's going to happen have to do with me not being happy about it? I didn't want Conan to lose The Tonight Show either, but that still happened.

Sorry but how should I have taken the "only the americans" remark since you were replying to an american, me? Thats just the way I took but no biggy right? :)

Conan suck's but hey thats just my opinion :D .

Anywho I like Petrov and think he has the skill to take his game further, I like his aggressiveness.

Actually, Tex's post did say he cares about the Cold War. It says so right there in the words "I could care less". To be able to care less ("could care less"), you have to care at least somewhat in order to be able to care less. If somebody didn't care at all, they "couldn't care less", because it is impossible to care less if you don't care at all.

I apologize, but this is a sort of pet peeve of mine. I absolutely hate people saying that they "could care less" when we all know that they're trying to imply that they don't care at all. Grammatically, it's inaccurate. While we know what they mean, they aren't saying what they mean.

I know, but I filtered it through the fact he's a Yank.

How about "I could careless" :D .

Grammar Nazi's were a dime a dozen 5yr's ago but in this economy the investment on return is basically 0% but I'm glad that I contributed to your ego and made you feel better about yourself.

Careless is an adjective, not a verb.

Petrov was solid in GP2, and I think he has the potential to be very good in F1. For a F1 rookie his drives thus far have (whilst not mistake free) been assured and not too far off the pace of his vastly more experienced team-mate. He was unlucky not to score until the last race, but I don't think it'll be the last points he'll score in 2010, and indeed with a bit of luck (and potentially bad luck for others) I could see him perhaps on the lower steps of the podium at a race or two.

If I'm not mistaken, Bourdais and Piquet (jr.) where really good drivers in the series they where driving before entering F1. Apperently they had bad luck with car that didn't suited their driving style. So, Petrov appart from being a good driver, had luck to get money and to get the seat, and the luck to have a good car that suits him. If you don't want to call it luck, give it another name. But it seems very much that without that you won't get very far in F1. In a way it is a pitty....

Oh, of course! But then that's always been the way in F1, hasn't it? I mean, a major amount of luck has always played a part in F1. Without the luck of Ross Brawn taking over from Honda, would Button be a WDC right now? At McLaren as a result? Or even still be in F1 at all!

Without the luck (or bad luck depending on how some people look at it!) of torrential rain in Monaco 1984, would Senna have had the chance to let his talent shine in that Toleman , progress to Lotus and then... well we all know the story.

Without luck of the Mansell / Williams contract Saga in mid-late 1992, would Damon hill at nearly 33 years of age have gotten such a competitive F1 drive and gone on to win so many races and a WDC? He may well have never driven another competitive race at all!

Luck plays a massive part in F1, but it's then what you do with the opportunities you're given, whether in a good car or bad one, big team or small one. So to take us back to Petrov, I think he's acquitted himself very well by staying close to his (race winning and consistent) team mate. If he keeps it up I see no reason for him not to have a lengthy F1 career in front of him.

Piquet Jnr. was unfortunate to be team mate to a double WDC, and in a team where he was number two in the true sense of the word. Bourdais had potential and I felt it was a tragedy that he was released from his contract - he was simply unlucky to have such an idiot for a boss!!

Given that he's essentially a pay driver, i think he's done great! The fact that he's not afraid to give world champions in faster cars a hard time when they try and pass (or indeed, when he has passed them!) is ballsy and admirable too.

I'm starting to like Petrov, but it's kinda annoying when they show his manager every time he makes a mistake.

Same. That shocked face she pulled last time?
Annoying.....LOL....But he is a cold russian? So i can see him making a good impact on F1 :) Still in my Monster Renault F1 team so lets hope that boy can bring in some good points for me....
