I don't know if this is ment to be the first race I see, or the first I went to.....?.

So I will go with the first I went to 1989 British Grand Prix...won by some french pesent :hehe: Senna was leading but something must of been on the track as he spun at the old chicane (that is no longer there)

Podium was 1.Prost,2.Mansell,3,Nannini

I also have to retract the "loyal servant" from my last comment incase I start another war on here.

Let's say "Loyal servant until 1989" :p

That was the old Becketts corner, aparrently it was a problem with his gearbox.

First race I went to was 1994 British Grand Prix with my sister and dad, we had doughnuts for breakfast and watched the action from Copse with Damon winning and Schumacher getting black flagged. We then got to see a big pile-up at the start of the BTCC support race that followed.

I'd say he was the best given that his generation started before Senna's.

Well the experts disagree with you Ewen, greatest driver of the generation was awarded to Ayrton :D .

Have to say though i would like to know what a generation was ? on the grounds Prost must be the best driver never to recieve the award.

How can a four times champion not recieve it...oh yeah Ayrton :hehe::hehe:

Firstly it's Ewan. :P

Secondly Prost began his F1 career alot earlier than Senna and made a number of accomplishments when Senna was still in his early years in the sport. Arguably you could say that Senna was only around the middle of his life span as a driver, sadly he was taken from us.

What im saying is that you need to consider these factors. Of course there is overlap, but I would argue that Alonso is a different generation of driver to Hamilton. Whereas Hamilton came into F1 with your Kubicas and Rosbergs etc, Alonso was really with Raikkonen, Montoya etc etc.

So in a way Hamilton is at a different stage of his development and "life-span" as a drivr compared to what Alonso is.

And although Senna was given awards and what not, I would still argue very strongly for Prost. We all have our personal opinions and I take nothing away from Ayrton as a driver. However sometimes it is just a case of appeal really. Prost, for some reason, appeal to be. Maybe it is something to do with his earlier career.

To be honest Ewan  sorry for the mistake :D Yes Prost was a great driver and was around and champion before Ayrton.

Most champions over the years arn't in my opinion fit to lace Prost's boots, but the fact Senna was the fastest driver ever (in my opinion) he didn't get the respect he deserved.Hense I did say the fastest not the best ever.

I had a passing interest in F1 until '92, watching the occasional highlight show since '89 but my interest was seriously sparked about half way through the '92 season when Nigel Mansell and Williams were dominating the championships and have never looked back since even if my interest has waned from time to time, the Schumacher dominance era and the recent lack of on-track action and BS politics has meant I don't watch every race.
