Monaco may be a bore fest. Yes that's true. But it was the one race that got me hooked on F1, the scenario is so distinct from other races, it's beautiful. Valencia should go, not Monaco.

They both should go really, or at least changed to accomodate more overtaking, however Monaco being a street circuit, they probably can't do anything with it.

The appeal of Monaco for me is not the overtaking, although when a move happens it adds to the excitement because it's so hard to do so. But the challenge for the driver is immense. If they lose concentration in Malaysia, Bahrain, Turkey, China etc. then there are plenty of run-off areas for them to take to and rejoin the circuit. In Monaco, loss of concentration will result in hitting the barriers. It also takes skill and bravery to be quick. You need to be able to get as close to the barriers without hitting them and you need to be very bold in making your way around the track.

I think Monza should have the 3 chicanes taken back out, it would greatly improve overtaking, and I dont think itd be any less dangerous, mainly because nowadays the breaking distances are so short compared to when they where introduced 30 odd years ago.

proper old school splistreaming again :)

yes I know it wont happen for lots of reasons, but Id like to see it.

:yes: Monaco should never go, it's one of the few remaining classic tracks and like someone else said, it too is what got me into F1 when I was younger. They should get rid of crap tracks like Bahrain, Valencia, and the Hungaroring.

But then won't the circuit just come down to top speed? And without the massive braking for the chichanes not really enough in it to get overtaking manoeuvres?

yeah there be no outbraking overtaking into chicances, but more slipstreaming overtaking :) and maybe outbraking into the lesmos :)

The cars are simply to fast for the tracks.. it's almost like having an airshow under a tent.. The tracks need to be wider longer and bigger, more elevation more banking more everything. Of-course safety would be an issue with these changes so there will need to be more runoffs..

I kind of agree here. Now that the cars are so much faster and more efficient, the tracks look a bit mickey mousey. I think it would be cool if on one part of the track there could be a choce of two ways to go, both the the same time to get round, just different ways, and only for a short while. That would be good for ovetaking. I guess it would be really hard to get both bits as fast as each other, be good if they could though

While that is a cool idea the crashes that would cause would be bad when the two routes rejoin each other.

F1 should do an oval race as a demonstration event at either Indy, Fontana or Michigan. I'd love to see that but the cars will need extensive modifications.

I couldn't think of anything more boring to be honest. Can't see the fascination of going round in a circle for two hours. :banghead:

That said i think most circuits are too tight and do need opening up,needs to be something in the middle.

Yet it would be F1 cars and that would be a spectacle, forget about the oval thing for a moment (deja vu) and think about the formula that is racing.

There can be some enjoyment taken from oval racing. I wouldn't watch it all the time, but I did enjoy the Indy 500 last year and the years before that.

As for widening tracks, that's not all that needs to happen. There have to be changes made to the cars. Take, for example, Sepang. That circuit is wide enough to get three cars side-by-side with room on the main straight, and indeed through most of the other straights. There's plenty of room available, but the fact that cars can't get close enough to one another is still a problem with their design and not the tracks. Yes, there are cases where tracks actually prevent overtaking due to their design (mostly the street circuits and Hungaroring) but the rest of the time they are good enough for overtaking to occur in other racing categories.

I have tried to watch oval racing but just can't face watching it.It's not a case of I won't try I have and simply don't like it.If it's f1 or not I wouldn't be tuning in.:hehe:
