come on now - no way X = Alonso. correct me if i am wrong please. Alonso was never implicated in any of the xxxxxgates we had recently. he demonstrated his willingness to use infomation as leverage against others. I respect him for recognising situations for what they are and use it to his own advantage. nothing wrong with that. on a scale from 1 to 10 i rate it a 1 against the lie-gate issue. So hands off Alonso until he proves to be as rotten as the star of the lie-gate scandal - which I doubt will happen ever.

I don't believe that Alonso is witness X as he was already named in the inquiry. But Alonso had a staring role in the spy-gate case, he was one of the key people discussing the Ferrari technical information via Email exchanges between Mike Coughlan, Pedro de la Rosa and himself. He was given immunity for testifying against McLaren.

It is widely accepted that Alonso tried to blackmail Ron Dennis into giving him #1 status and/or preferential treatment with in the McLaren garage!

exactly my point. Alonso not a stupid guy. as far blackmailing Ron?. I would have done the very same thing to get my way . like i said earlier. he used what he knew as leverage against Ron. dont blame Alonso for being ambitious. Where is ron now and where is Alonso ? ... that should tell you some.

Ron Dennis is the head of the McLaren group so he is doing just fine; he stepped back because he was fed up of the bullsh*t bureaucracy in F1, he hardly left his post as team principle in shame, he stayed on for a whole season before making his decision to quit as team boss. Fernando Alonso is in an under-performing car which seems to have problems keeping four wheels, I believe that Ron Dennis would be the happier person right now!

We all know that Alonso is a very intelligent man, and yes he used the information to his advantage but he was as guilty as anyone during McLaren's spygate scandal. He not only read Emails, he actively participated and didn't inform the FIA at all. Ron Dennis blew the whistle when Alonso attempted to blackmail him. Alonso's so-called leverage didn't work for him, Ron isn't the sort of man that will take being blackmailed laying down. Alonso lost out, losing his drive and having to take a step back down to Renault!

In my books that makes Alonso guilty of a lot of wrongdoing!

I respect his ability but I dislike him as a person, I liked him before the McLaren spygate scandal, and no I am not McLaren/Lewis fan either, I don't have loyalty to any team!

well .. I didnt like him either at first, but to me his ability as a driver changed my opinion of him. What makes me defend him as a person is the fact that he is prepared to do what is needed to get to where he wants to be. I highly doubt whether he will ever be involved in crap like hammie and the like. Alonso has now grown into the sport. and i think he deserves credit where its due. as far as Ron is concerned. I think he challenged Alonso as it was the safest and easiest way out of something that would clearly screw his career and reputation. that dont mean he's innocent.

I personally quite like Alonso after 2007.

There was a little clip, that showed up during the 2007 review videos. Where Alonso and Ron have to go the Stewarts during Hungary, and Alonso won't even get in the same car as Ron Dennis. I think quite clearly, the issue was between and Ron and Alonso, and the worst was clearly brought out in Alonso.

I mean, I quite like how Alonso handles the media these days. By completely Ignoring rumours and stories that pop up around the paddock.

 He's been involved in both of the big scandals. No smoke without fire. And doing anything to get what you want is not an admirable quality in my books.

Interesting that you of all people would say this. So, lets take your logic and use it. How many scandals has your hero Mr. Hamilton been involved in now? Lets see. Spy-gate and Lie-gate are the big ones (same number as Alonso)...but then there are a massive multitude of smaller ones.... Throw-away-the-Championship-in-a-pitlane-graveltrap-gate. Hit-pit-lane-speed-button-gate. Crash-in-Alonso-on-a-straightaway-gate, Crash-into-parked-cars-in-pitlane-gate. Drivers-protesting-his-driving-style-gate. Daddy-is-an-asshole-gate.

I mean seriously, you of all people using the no smoke without fire phrase? Do you apply that logic to Hamilton? He has been in far more controversies than Alonso...FAR MORE....and he has not been in the game for very long.

Bill get over it will ya, Hamilton was not involved in the spy saga what so ever! He had absolutely nothing to do with it while Alonso on the other hand did!

you quite right !! I dont know whatup with the anti Alonso crew now lately. Is it coz he's going to ferrari ? it appears to be the case since its the usual pro hammie angels at it. ... The guys innocent !! ok ! whether he used what he knew about the spygate issue against the people directly involved in it should maybe be another discussion. however it serves em right. I'll blackmail you and stand out of the water when you get caught. thats a good motto to have.

I like it that he stays in control of himself these days. minds his own business and drives that M-F till the wheels fall off. !!
