I support neither in all truth.

I dont support Jenson.

Personally I have always supported and followed Jenson's progress and also David Coulthard but Lewis I could take or leave really; It was great to have Lewis win to see a Briton win the WDC after a 12 year gap but I wouldn't call myself a fan of Lewis Hamilton.

My comment was more of a generalisation; most people tend to be glory hunters; let's face it more people in the UK are interested in F1 now because of having a British world champion; If a Briton didn't win again for another five years; viewership will naturally drop. It's the same in Spain; before Fernando Alonso started to do well at Renault; the Spaniards weren't terrible interested in F1 before Alonso.

Totally agree. Casual fans will only come out when their country does well. Dedicated fans like ourselves go through it all. But I am sure a lot of the fans wearing Lewis merch will be wearing Jenson merch this year at Silverstone as they support country rather than specifics.

It'd be interesting to see how they'd present it. Using the MotoGP guys is a good starting point. I'd quite like to see how they'd present it. FOM does a damn good job with F1, but I'm open to alternatives.

FOM doesnt do that good of a job, s*** they dont even broadcast in HD nor do they have very good online content. MotoGP owns F1 in all fronts! racing too!

All true, I've long said Bernie's refusal to embrace new technology is to be his undoing.

I would also note that F1 does not even shoot in HD, which is just poor work.

However, the package they've put together, for what it is, is to a high value. Much better than, say, ball sports like Association Football.

The only decent thing I se him embrace this year is the Ghost shot in which I fount awesome! What happened to that  It reminded me of the F1 games

I think we should fight the glory hunters...

That is one of the main things i hate :banghead:

I'm a Tifosi, always have been, always will. but on certain race weekends like next weekend i will have a picture of Lewis for the pure fact it is the British GP, if i have JB i will get an ear full. I support Lorenzo,Massa & Kimi. Simple as, Lewis is just my favoured British driver....

remember Ewman! take your mind back to the beginning of the season? are you still counting those glory supporters?

Although the general public bring vital money to the sport, hovever much we don't like them.

 The fans will go where the best drivers, teams and fastest most technologically superior cars are. That will be the new F1 and the old F1 will just be a feeder series..if that. Look at moto GP and superbikes. Which is the best most prestigious series?

Correct. I'm already getting fed up with Formula One, because of the narrowness of the regulations; so, I've absolutely no interest in watching a quasi-spec series.

Everyone keeps on saying that F1 is doomed without the likes of Ferrari, McLaren, Renault etc but that may not be the case; it's fair to say that many of us on this forum are hard core fans of F1 and don't want to lose the big established teams but I would say that a bigger majority of people are casual viewers who support a driver from their country regardless of what team they drive for. It will be a revolution and a shame if we lose the eight FOTA teams but F1 will continue but only if Max can actually do what he has threatened to do and cut off the 8 FOTA teams and include from the pool of other applicants before those new teams lose interest and walk away from F1.

None of us can say for sure what will happen; a new series with the 8 FOTA teams may well wipe the floor with F1 but on the other hand it may be reversed and GPWC may be pummelled into submission. It'll definitely be a interesting battle, the popularity of specification racing is growing, more and more people are looking for closer racing and unpredictability hence the growing popularity of disciplines like GP2 and A1GP in recent years. Having the best technology is one thing but when one team dominates like this year, the other teams are already talking about abandoning this season to prepare for next; is that good for the spectacle of F1? I don't believe so; I would much prefer that four or five drivers enter the final few faces with a chance of winning the world drivers championship instead of a two horse race or one horse race as it's becoming this year!

Bottom line is that F1 may lose a lot of hard core fans but will gain lots more floating viewers as regular viewers, never assume what Joe Public will do!

:hehe: Not a glory supporter then as some said previously. :P
I dont actually mind Jens and it will be nice for him to win the British; he just doesnt do for me what lewis does. But I like the colours of his team and might get something Brawn. Lewis stuff will be worn all weekend though!!

If there is a split, it's quite possible Williams will not have any competition in F1. There will a year with a complete Williams walkover, which could be rather boring. FOTA would have a number of top teams, and most likely a more exciting championship. This could be one of the crucial factors determining which championship would win out.
