Who's idea was it to put a Rock Band in charge of a virus pandemic-o-meter?

I haven't seen the TV advert and I sure as hell hope I don't happen to run into it, getting bored of hearing about this media-hyped Swine rubbish now, I'd rather have the Credit Crunch any day, at least that's just a breakfast cereal.

does anyone agree it actually looks like the credit crunch is comeing to a end.
as the past few days the money markets have been doing well.

Probably a dead cat bounce on the money markets. I'd be amazed if there is any recovery within the next 12 months. Most projections seem to indicate a 5 to 6 year period before full recovery. I personally think it will only get worse for the next 12 months at least.

The Who seem to have been slightly premature in going to level 5 seeing as there have 'only' been 160 or so deaths. I mean given that level 6 is the highest and that plagues throughout history have killed millions, surely the jump from a few hundred deaths at level 5 to millions of deaths at level 6 is a bit massive!

and the only deaths have been people in mexico.
apart from 1 in the usa that came from mexico.

any does anyone think that the southern hemospehere will be affected worse as we go out of the season for these types of diseases soon

Could be. Hard to say really. There hasn't been much actual information in the news here. Just scaremongering stuff like 'KILLER DISEASE IS HERE!!!' <---Actual headline from the Daily Mail

do they have proof its a killer disease here?
they just want loads of hype so everyone buys the paper

Yup fear sells papers and papers are loosing lots of money in the UK so I expect more and more fleet street desperation. People seem to be responding to treatment so I don't think its the severity of the disease in particular that is the problem but rather the speed at which it has spread.

Infection and death rates will vary from country to country and will be dependent on the state of that country's health service and its accessibility.

As poor as it can be at times, our health service is probably well-equipped to fight this disease and the treatment should be accessible to almost all people within the country. So I would expect death rates in the UK to be minimal. In countries with less-developed health services, where people might be forced to walk to neighbouring towns and villages for treatment in facilities that have only limited capacity, the death rate would likely rise significantly.

The speed at which it spreads is definitely a major issue, but so long as treatment is readily available and, crucially effective, that shouldn't be too much of an issue. Once it spreads faster than treatment can be administered, however, it will be come a real problem. Vaccinations would help to reduce the possibility of that happening, as less people would have to be admitted in to hospitals for treatment of the disease.
