Admittingly Felipe is a good o' laugh in the wet conditions
Sometime's even multiple WDC's, better than Hamilton
, have gotten their setup and tire choice wrong and I think your statement lies strictly on the '08 Silverstone event. Very easy for you to lay blame etc etc yet God forbid if the situation was reversed
.
True, we could go on all day about how Lewis lost in monza quali, or how he hit the back of Kimi in the pits.
But everyone makes mistakes, and we saw mistakes from the overwhelming majority of the feild this year.
True Massa messed up in Silverstone. Even worse, he never once spinned of permantly, and kept going only to make himself look worse. But what I don't get, is why after Rubens made it up to 2nd, didn't they put Massa in full wets. Ferrari's stratigiests are truly useless at times.
What I also don't get is why BMW Sauber didn't see that and move Heidfeld on to full-wets. Had they done so, he could have been challenging Hamilton for the lead, seeing as Rubens was apparently running nearly thirty seconds faster than anybody else at one point.
On the subject of Massa, people blow Silverstone out of proportion by a massive extent. No, he is not a stellar wet-weather driver like Hamilton, Vettel, Barrichello, Button (well...) and Heidfeld, but he's not terrible. Most people forget that he nearly won at Monaco (in the rain
and on a track that he hates), and did not spin out at Monza or Spa, and he was still the class of the field at Interlagos despite the chaotic and wet conditions.
