Awwe, it's so nice to see someone bring McLaren Fan down a couple of pegs or two, he does troll this forum and consider his words to be F1 Gospel.

Don't want to seem to be encouraging F1racer's disregard of the forum guidelines, however he's got my vote ;p

Well, I would expect nothing less from you, DeMuRe, given that you love to stick the boot into McLaren at the slightest of opportunities. As far as I'm aware, this a Formula One forum, so you're allowed to express an opinion and debate other people's without people taking the piss, winding you up and scurrilously insulting you.

That is total BS deMuRe as McLaren Fan was not brought down a few peg's in any form or fashion, it was F1racer who brought himself down a few peg's with his insulting remark's.

Say what you want - the reality here is that this guy does nothing but bash - Ferrari, Bernie, the FIA, Tilke, Max - he's a hater. I really could give a flying you know what about this forum or frankly about you.

Do your worse internet geek boy... Protect the world from the bad man who told your boy what is what...

Actually if you were not so hard headed and knew how to respect other's view's, even if you do not agree with them, you would see your the 'hater'! I'm not PM'ing you this message because your malcontent for the members here and disrespect for the forum as a whole, which you cemented with your last post, should and will be public record.

After you reach puberty come back and join us because we all respect a mature and knowledgable debate and reply.

A lot of Formula One fans hold these views, so I guess all of the sport's fans are haters.

Ride on, loser.

I dont think its all Tilke's fault...
Turkey is a really good circuit and I kinda like Shanghai because its such a weird track... also Sepang's pretty decent. And Sakhir kinda reminds me of the old Brazil GP track. So, i say next yr with slicks we'll see which are the really good tracks; because some tracks like Valencia gave a pretty decent show in other categories...

But even with slicks, I dont think i'll like his revamp tracks, such as the new Hockenheim and Fuji... yuck.

I do not have the insight or knowledge everyone else here does about the Tilke track's but I want to agree with f1ea that surely all the weight does not lie upon his shoulder's. I do agree with everyone though that alot has been lost since he became the 'go to guy' for track design's and redesign's, learning that from everyone here . Heck I'm just happy we still have F1 and not a CART/IRL style debacle .

I know the current design of the cars makes it hard to overtake but i think Tilke has to take alot of the blame as well. His designs are "dry" with too many long straights that are actually 'straight' compared compared to the older more traditional circuits. Generally they lack imagination and character and alot of them carry a very similar car setup. Personally i dont think it's good to have any one person responsible for designing the circuits. Also, the width of his circuits gives the drivers a greater margin of error making it easier for the non-skilled driver who may have a great car!

[bud]

the difference between the classic tracks and classic corners compared to Tilke who seems to be designing everything these days is in the good ole days the track designers didnt use computers with the engineering design process, or werent university grad highly paid engineers.
they were more than likely just using their intuitive feelings to plan the track layouts which gave it character, the human inconsistency factor.

That's a bit rich coming from you, I've been in a few heated debates with you and there's been name calling...

Yes, there's been a bit of bitching between the two of us, but nothing close to F1Racer's level, and not for no apparent reason; F1Racer's verbal assault on me came completely out of the blue. There have only been two occasions when I really lost my rag on this forum and insulted somebody in the fullest sense of the word. One person got what he deserved, but the other person did not. I've apologised for it and not offence was taken, but I still feel bad about it.

I agree. Most of Tilke's tracks feel clinical and artificial. There are some great corners on his tracks, but they don't have the same character and feel a bit out of place when compared with the feel of the rest of the track. Some of the blame for this has to go to Tilke, there are a few mitigating reasons in his favour. Increased safety standards mean you can't design a challenging high-speed corner as easily and if you do manage to design one, there has to be a massive run-off area, which removes the challenge of the corner and the consequences if you make a mistake. By that, I'm don't meant to say there should be fatal accidents, but it's wrong for a driver to make a mistake in the corner and just be able to keep his foot down and pull back onto the track, to carrying on more or less as normal.

Only just come in on this. For me..I was realy excited about watching Valencia, nearly went there!!! Instead watched from a Greek Taverna and was very dissapointed!! Almost retired to the sunbed!! But boredom was relieved by the entertainment provided by Ferrari's pitstops (Incidentally in the G2 race a drive through was given for the same error-the unsafe release error, not the driving over of a mechanic error ) But jesting aside, crap track, great drive Massa,he deserved the win but Ferrari should have been docked points for unsafe actions. Masssa, Kubica and lewis appared to get the most they could from their cars. The Ferrari had the legs by about 4mph and Massa made excellent use of it. Well done lewis with the bad neck problem a safe bank of points! And GO ROBERT GO! ferrari year after next!! Lewis in a Macca Robert in a Ferrari-Bring it on!!(Oh and DD..... Massa in the mix too )

yes, agree. While I dont think Tilke should be punished for killing overtaking in F1, having one go-to guy to design everything is kinda boring...

Yup. I just read an article and Willy Rampf mentioned Spa as being the last "natural" track. i think this is also what you mean, and this is why Spa is so fantastic. Maybe the Tilke's tracks that could stay would be Turkey, Valencia, Sepang and Shanghai/Sakhir... the rest should be given to other people, who could come up with fresh ideas...
