SHORTEN THE RACE DISTANCE, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD

The races are too long anyway. Nothing happens for like 15-20 laps or so. Then we have pit stops, bit of movement, then another 15-20 laps of watching a procession. It gets incredibly tedious and boring. The races don't need to be so long.

Plus, shorter races will help a little with the whole fuel tank size thing next year, and things like brake wear and engine wear. Plus it reduces costs. I mean, its the obvious thing to do.

Also, on the subject of Badoer. Domenicali is a nice guy, and an upstanding man. He said Badeor will race next weekend, so he'll be true to his word. Montezemlo on the other hand. He'll think its an embarrassment and throw things at the TV. So really, Badoer's chances of racing next weekend will depend on whether or not Montezemlo steps in.

This was actually my first time ever watching F1, without Felipe Massa being there to support. I do miss the guy :( He'd be challenging for wins if he was around and generally spanking Kimi.

Nah, they can cut back the revs more - speeds/lap times are still improving. Nothing wrong with REALLY slowing them down by cutting the revs.

Good, as long as the speed is still there, dropping the revs more wouldn't hurt. And the added bonus is that these V8's sound much better at lower rev ranges.

are we the only ones who found it boring?

I found it quite boring and a McLaren was first for most of the race. That says something about that Circuit the walls are not close enough the track is to wide and there is no where to overtake.

The longer the races, the more can happen in terms of mechanical failure or driver gaffes, so I wouldn't like shorter races.

I was a bit surprised by the interviews to be quite honest. Lewis actually acted like a professional racing driver, and it was impressive to watch. No jumping up and down, no fits of seething rage or poor me victim speeches....impressive. Without question, his team hosed him in a huge way...but he took it like a man. Has he finally fired his dad and hired a proper manager? It is good to see his change in attitude and while I must admit to jumping up and down laughing during his ill fated final pit stop...after the press conference was the first time I've ever felt sorry for him. If he keeps acting like that, I may just have to reconsider my overwhelming dislike for the guy.

Heikki was looking very racey for a while there....he just can't seem to close the deal.

 and would consume less fuel

If the races are shorter, it becomes far less challenging for the drivers and teams. And I'm less entertained.

i dunno why but i really enjoyed the race :) i hated it last year , by far the worse race of the 08 season ! but congrats to rubens even if it was deserved :P (just kidding) was well happy for him , and i think lewis did an awesome job , but i was shouting at the tv when the tyres wernt there lol the right front mechanic took the wheel off and then as he looked for the new tyre and was like wtf !:yikes:

Mclaren lost lewis the race i think :banghead: they had race pace , and the 2 to 3 seconds the lost in the pits would have made a differance concidering lewis finished 2 seconds behind rubens !

never the less that is motorsport :D its why we all love it :D

well done kimi and heikki

role on SPA :p

To be fair, the only reason Lewis finished that close was because Rubens wasn't pushing any more. If he needed to, Rubens could have maintained the gap at six seconds.

I would expect a bit more sophistication than this simple math from you

An interesting race around the Valencian Street circuit. The race was certainly not a classic, but it was far more entertaining than expected. The circuit's surroundings still require alot of work if the GP is ever going to be a success. The grandstands weren't full, and it still looked very boring... Hopefully the new buildings over the next few years will make the circuit more pleasant to look at.

The race could have done with more incidents. I would have loved a safety car.

A great drive by Rubens today, a fully deserved victory. After the McLaren's led from the start I was worried that Heikki's poor race pace would spoil it for Barrichello and allow Hamilton to run away with it. Luckily Hamilton could not eek out that much of a lead and Rubens was mighty to leapfrog Heikki in the first round of pitstops.

After that we have quite a battle between Hamilton and Barrichello as both men traded fastest lap times, and eeked out or gained time on each other. I really didn't know which way it was going to swing. If i'm honest I think Hamilton would have probably came out infront of Barrichello after his last pitstop. It was an absolute cockup by McLaren and one which Whitmarsh shouldn't try and deviate from.

I think we were potentially robbed of an awesome couple of final laps. The way the tyres and brakes were going, Lewis and Rubens might have been nose to tail - we might have seen some overtaking.

As for our championship contenders, it was truly an awful race for Red Bull. I find it hard to come up with a reason as to why the Renault engines have been so unreliable in his car this season. Certainly the other 3 Renault-powered cars have been very good in that sense. I can't help feel that Vettel's bad luck is blowing his title chances. If he hadn't DNF'd today or in Hungary or in Monaco he would be much closer to Jenson.
Speaking of Jenson, why has he gone off the boil as of late? I'm starting to believe the comparisons with Schumacher. This seems very 2000ish when Schumacher had a wobbly and allowed McLaren to catch up.

Certainly Jenson has possibly blown a great opportunity to pull away in the standings. If it is wet in Belgium, I wouldn't bet against Red Bull outscoring them.

Rosberg and Kubica were both pretty strong, but I don't think you can honestly compare the two drivers. Both have experienced horrible cars and been in half-decent ones. Judge them once they have cars capable of fighting for the title. Rab should have had that chance last year, but that's all water under the bridge now.

Raikkonen was very strong today - a quiet, yet solid drive from the Finn. However I do not think that his recent performances will be enough to save his skin. Ferrari now have a half-decent car, but when they were no where, Raikkonen was oblivious.

A shout out should be given to Force India, who keep making brilliant steps forward. They had a great result today and could have been in the points if we had had more DNFs. May their form continue.

This is the thing which annoys me about modern F1, the cars seem far too reliable, and this is what moves me on to another point.

The brakes should stay the way as they are, I agree 100% with what DD said. Formula One isn't about taking the easy way out. In the past drivers had to slow their cars down with brakes which were far less advanced compared to now.

Races also should not be shortened. That is like asking cricket to shorten their test series.
Formula One should not subject itself to the media friendly world of time-slots. This is a sport, not a soap opera.

God help us if FOTA are ever allowed to shorten the races.
