Williams' Rob Smedley believes Force India should have retired Sergio Perez with brake issues before his huge last lap accident with Felipe Massa...

Smedley sounds fit to be tied, not that I can blame him!

DD is just the person for the job.

Someone tweeted a photo of the steering on massa's and Perrez's car. Massa is steering right whist Perrez is going straight.... On a right hand bend meaning he was effectively turning left into Massa.

Does anyone know the winter testing dates? I wanna go along to hear the V8s. I hope the speed/noise hasn't been damaged too much.

Indeed, the curve of the track at that point us slightly to the right. Anyone whose actually raced before at any level knows that what Perez did was a big no no. Moving like he did in the braking zone is suicide at those speeds, especially so with three cars running so close together. Massa was indeed close, but you have to put your faith in professional drivers not to do what Perez did when you're racing alongside them.

Massa seems to have issues with situational awareness. He is never far from being crashed into by someone else, its always someone elses fault, he is very good at demanding punishment and harsher penalties and bans for other drivers.
In 2011 it was obvious that a lot of his crashes into Lewis and others were more than sloppy and belonged to the same strategy as breaking his gearbox seal and ''supporting' and moving over for Alonso. But apart from those efforts he finds it too easy to spin out or crash a bit too much. Now he is at Williams he really needs to get out of the ferrari/victimised mindset

A racing incident if Perez had a problem, Massa should have been more aware at any rate

The more I watch the footage, the more I see Perez at fault :shrug:

Looking at the clip, Perez hit that barrier at the worst possible place. It really should be redesigned to allow for a less sudden transition between the concrete wall and the tire wall. You see him hit and then suddenly hits the "support" for the end of the tire wall and comes to a very sudden stop. Had that barrier been designed slightly differently, I think he would have skidded and come to a stop much less harshly than he did.

Tell you what. I'm going to sit on the fence :D

A pointy picket fence? :twisted::whip::D

Always a pointy one :P

And I find myself slipping off that pointy fence back towards the 'it's Perez's fault' camp. Feel very sorry for both of them in that race.

Hopefully no bad scratches or gaping wounds :thumbup:

No. I avoided the pointy bits and had a nice soft landing. :P

I like the Canadian circuit because it's got old fashioned stuff like grass.

And walls that aren't miles away from the circuit!
