In a subscriber's article at
Autosport dot Com, they are speculating Kubica might not be returning with Rinnow.
The reason being Rinnow-cum-Lotus already are on the back foot for losing the services of their #1 driver so near to the start of the 2011 season. And it now is known Kubica is not likely to be race-ready until the latter half of the 2012 season, perhaps the last few races. Boullier has said they are "morally" committed to Kubica but there is a flood of talented new prospects available for 2012. It is a "buyer's market" and Rinnow haven't the luxury of dithering until 2013 waiting for Kubica.
Kubica's contract with Rinnow expires this December. What if he and Boullier already have agreed it will not be renewed but that neither will speak of it, leaving that honour to Kubica's new team.
It generally is believed Kubica temporarily has left his home in Monaco and is living in Capezzano Pianore, where he can receive full-time treatment from Dott. Riccardo Ceccarelli in his
Formula Medicine clinic. Capezzano Pianore is about two hours driving from Maranello via the A15, but less than an hour by helicopter across the Apennines. Just an hour or two to F1 simulators, Fiorano, and the constructor's factory. Felipe Massa's contract with Scuderia Ferrari expires at the end of the 2012 season, and Robert Kubica undoubtedly will be quite keen on rejoining with that team which provides him the best opportunity to return to his old form.
Coincidence? We shall see.
