95% of Ford's target audience with F-150 trucks don't even know what Formula 1 is...

I am the 5% that owns a F150 and watches formula 1

So your name is Alonso or Massa?

"this" did not mean this thread. It was referring to the thread that was linked in my post.

Ferrari's direct response to Ford and their claim.

I really liked this little "point out" to Ford's claim that Ferrari are going to profit from the Ferrari F150 product.

"indeed there will definitely not be a production run of single-seaters"

Hm...

I'm just saying...

Is that what they mean by 'balanced approach'?

After what Ferrari did with Ferris Beullers day off they deserve anything they get in that respect.

The truck in that snap is a Dodge, not a Ford.

What most of the rest of the world calls the Porsche "911," they refer to internally as the "901." They had intended to market it as the 901 but Peugeot already was selling several models using a three-digit number with a zero in the middle so they protested that "901" amounted to a trademark infringement. Porsche acquiesced and switched the middle digit for a one.

The transgressions of the company that built the kit car used in Ferris Bueller went far beyond the mere aping of a model designation. They used precise duplicates of the bonnet badge and grille ornament from 60s Ferraris and deserved being sued into oblivion. Carroll Shelby has sued all the builders of AC Cobra replicars who mimicked the original AC's badging. Imitating the body style is one thing but the original constructor's logo is sacrosanct.

I think both you and Ford are missing the point, as Ferrari pointed out in their statement I posted here.

Ferrari can't benefit by using the name F150, because, as they have just pointed out, they don't plan a production run of single seater F1 cars

Although, I sure, from the perennial gold medal country in world championship suing, the US lawyers will find some way to make Ford carry on making fools of themselves.

I disagree. Ferrari's sole means of advertising is campaigning F1 so they most decidedly will profit (or would have) from the use of the F150 name. If there were no profit to be had, they wouldn't have been doing it.

EDIT:
Even if Ferrari did not profit directly from its use, their use of it diminishes the trademark's value to Ford.

They may not profit from selling a vehicle, but they will profit a plenty from all those cheezy articles of clothing they'll get their royalties on from having the F150 emblazoned on it.

Thankfully we don't have to figure it all out, leave the sharks to that, I just showed up to watch a F1 Grand Prix and a legal battle broke out.

Is it all "settled" was the change acceptable to Ford? I haven't heard anything else.

Yes, it is. And Ferrari is owned by FIAT and Dodge is part of the Chrysler Group and the Chrysler Group is being run by FIAT - get it? Get it?

Ferrari really made a big mistake. The biggest part was probably thinking Ford would accept that an Italian marque company might want to celebrate their 150th year of their countries unity. I wonder how many F things/place Ford will sue if they also want to celebrate their 150th year?

The other big part of Ferrari's mistake was thinking that you could take for granted that most people in the world are smart enough to not confuse a single seater open wheel racing car for a truck.

Perhaps someone should have shown this to Ferrari :hehe:

Ahh Fords bellyaching is just an annoying fly to Ferrari. Why not just rename their damn car to "F the Dramaqueens called Ford We Just Wanna Race" and everyone will be happy.
