McLaren just cheat in their own way, they're all as bad as each other.

A proper test involves the engineers, running at near racing speeds, using proper tires and analising telemetry data... so far, this is exactly what Ferrari have been obviously outspoken and transparent about: simply getting some kms with the new parts. Most teams will have promo days as well, i'm sure they'll run whatever chassis or part they want without much thought to it.

In all honesty, surly McLaren would pull the same stunt when its time for their upgrades? Their not going to take the moral high ground about it.

think most teams used their promo km pre season!

I would expect and have no problem with any team to use whatever chance they get to test a new part or design.

Bull :hehe::wink: You would be moaning if it was McLaren.

Nah really I wouldn't simply because I believe that all teams should take advantage of any opp's to run a new part/idea, we all hate the no testing ban  . Since Ferrari did it that should open the eye's of other teams too the opp available to them so they can take advantage of it aswell.

You would of thought that testing should comeback for the sake of safety above anything else.

Safety aswell as competition. The reason we see races that are deemed 'bore fest' and 'trains' is because the teams are not allowed to test any more. That imho is the biggest reason for most of the disappointment amongst the fans.

I'm very interested in how much performance can be gained from this type of upgrade guess it should give Ferrari an extra few points downforce but having the exhaust packaged like this causes pretty major cooling problems if they have put in extra cooling then they will have increased drag.
#204115
The cooling issues RedBull had have not been proven to be caused by the exhuast setup as far as I know?

they wouldnt really tell the world the exact cause and talk about their trick exhaust system though would they.
Another issue is using hot exhaust gas directly onto body work. No doubt the use of the media day was to test the temperatures on the diffuser itself.

Another challenge with this system is preventing airflow separation which causes turbulence and can cause the diffuser to stall. Having two air flows entering the diffuser one from floor of the car which will have a different flow rate and pressure when travelling at different speeds, then the airflow from the exhaust which will be much hotter and will vary with revs that the engine is running at, if the airflow in the diffuser separates then the diffuser could perform worst.

Of course not but what has been implied is simply opinions yet said as if that IS/WAS the cause.

Maybe?

Did ferrari not have some sort of cooling problem at the beginning of the season??
