I have to be honest, getting tired of people saying they honestly think Button is one of the best. The guy is a class act and a damn good driver, I cheered him on all season but I can realize he is nowhere near the level of drivers like Hamilton or Raikonnen, both had horrible cars through most of the year and still had good results. Button had a good car all year long and raced well for half of it giving him the championship with very little trouble, but did very little with slower cars in years past, that is the test of a drivers true abilities IMO. I never close the book on anyone, Button still has lots of racing left and my opinion of him may change, but all I have really seen is that he can win with a superior car that fits his driving style well, as soon as the other cars improved and leveled the playing field he stopped winning, what does that really say about him? Say what you want about Hamilton's actions at Albert Park, but his driving that race was nothing short of legendary, no other driver in any race last season put up a performance like that with a car as bad as his, he deserves 1st on the list of F1 drivers anyway. I think it will become crystal clear how much better he really is next season when he outperforms Button on what I expect to be a regular basis.

The only driver who won a race this year with a car that was not good enough to win was Kimi in the Ferrari. Everyone else who won races this season had a car capable of doing so at the races won.

If you think Hamilton is going to school Button next season you will be sorely disappointed. It will be like Vettel & Webber this year. We all know Webber isn't as good but that doesn't mean Webber can't take it to Vettel like he did this season. The white wash everyone was expecting never came and it will be the same in 2010 with Button & Hamilton, if Hamilton makes the mistakes Button will be there to capitalize.

Wins are numbers, scores are numbers - you can't arbitrarily separate them by looking just at scores to say somebody is the best (as you did in this thread), but then deny the validity of wins as a measure for best performance (as in that quote of yours in the other thread).

Read my post mate, i'm saying a Win/Podium in a Inferior car is worth more than a Win/Podium in the class of the field car.

So i'm not just looking at the numbers.

So now the "inferior car" excuse is the new excuse within the flock/herd???

nice one tex, you don't like being a called a "lamb" but you have no problem suggesting i am one.

Thats called being a Hypocrite.

If you can't say that the Mclaren MP-4/24 was an inferior car to the likes of the Red Bull and the Brawn then you perhaps need to watch Formula 1 2009 again.

Do some research mate and you will find that I have admitted I am a Ferrari lamb and I'm proud of it, really it's ok to be a lamb  . I agree that the car was inferior the first half of the season but what I disagree with is the.....

When Hamilton won races he had a winner car, I won't dispute that. However he only had a competitive car for the last half of the season, the rest of the season he had absolutely nothing to work with and still put points on the board, fighting his way through the pack every race, he will be the superior driver in 2010, there is no question.

He wasn't that brilliant when the car was rubbish, if we're judging drivers in bad cars who overdrove them I reckon alsonso manages to pip Lewis there.

Lewis has made mistakes that I think should count quite heavily against him seeing as in f1 other drivers diddn't (kimi).

There is no doubt or should be no doubt in anyones mind that Lewis is a great driver I just do not think he deserved the no.1 title. Since it was a top 50 vote from all racing series worldwide what about Jimmy Johnson winning his 4th consecutive NASCAR title :D . Not that NASCAR is my cup of tea but that is one spectacular feat.

What people need to remember is that this is made up from other drivers who might just happen to know a bit more than us

Sorry tex got better things to do with my time than research your posts but i do remember you being objectionable to being called a "lamb", if your opinion has since changed i do apologize that i am not up to do date with your current situation.

Pointless argument since your a Ferrari fan and admitting a Mclaren driver did good would be too much to ask.

Gaz,
I never said Lewis did not do good I just don't think he deserves the No.1 title.

I'm a lamb and proud of it,
tex :D

To be honest, I think every year I'd give the award to Alex Zanardi. He's competed in WTCC for five seasons and with the exception of 2007, won a race each year. This year is no different.

because we are talking racing drivers not taxi drivers who do round trips.

seeing as you now admit youre a Ferrari lamb again after not long ago claiming you had no team to follow yet before that still claimed to be a Ferrari lamb. you need to stick to things then maybe people might take in your word and opinions instead of just shrugging them off.

I guess I should have clarified that statement as it was merely meant in a drivers aspect.

If they want to shrug them off then sobeit as I wont loose any sleep over it.
