Comparing Football governing body's and F1/motorsports is stupid.

FIA (Is French) but the teams are different, same as football if you say (UEFA) is french then they are, but the teams are not.

And Jensenb calling Britain the home of F1 is even more stupid and arrogant. But then again I should expect that from the likes of him.

it's not just about where the governing body is based in the assertion, he's also mentioning the factories engineers etc.

No ones saying f1 is exclusively british.

Then he needs to re word his comment as it is worded badly. Britain is the home of f1 implies that f1 is British. He should perhaps of said that a high majority of teams including non british teams are based in the UK. The latter of what I wrote is correct and if it is what he meant he should of written it like that because with the former it portrays a different meaning.

I think he is getting carried away at the fact there are alot of what your Ferrari friends of yeaster-year would call The Garagistes set-up in Britain at the moment.

Britan has the biggest motor sport industry in the world and thats a fact - that said F1 is a Worldwide sport and i hope it stays that way.

Irony.

Formula One is French. It was born in France. Britain dominates it, only Italy comes close to matching the UK. End of discussion.

Ok Ok, this is all quite silly now.

Yes, Formula One's origins may well of been in France in the 1890's and it was in essence a "French Sport" up until the 1930's where Germany where dominating, then there was a era of Italian Domination and then back to German Domination (thanks to Adolph Hitler) and this was then the start of aerodynamics, fuel concoctions and a more awareness on how important weight was.

Now to AKR's point, in 1950 the FIA announced the plans for a World Championship, Juan Manuel Fangio won the "Pau Grand Prix" which was the start of the "International Formula One" and about a month later from this Silverstone hosted the British Grand Prix this was the first championship race, thus making the "F1 Championship"

In the mid 1950's Sterling Moss who is possibly the best driver not to win a championship, but around 1958 Mike Hawthorm got eh first British Championship in a Ferrari following the death of his fellow Brit Peter Collins, with the death and Ferrari's politics he decided to retire from F1 only to be killed in a road accident in 1959.

Shortly After, the dominate era of the British Grand Prix teams was to come, making the "British racing green" the "official" color of F1 from 1962 to 1973, during this time Britain won 12 World Championships, the engineering feats and development during this era was substantial and in it all really started because of Sterling Moss's enthusiasm rubbing off onto engineers who decided to try a revolutionary rear-engine design which for Jack Brambahm captured back to back f1 titles, also the monocoque chassis....

That era is the main thing what made today's F1 like it is now, that's why AKR says in essence that F1 is a British Motorsport.

Only Italy comes close to matching the UK. Well that coming from a Brit which if I interpret correctly is saying Britain is number 1, Italy a close second place and everyone else nowhere, this I will accept. I mean you wouldn't really want to say it the other way around of course.:D:wavey:

AKR you have got to learn to put all your quotes into one post. its not hard to cut and paste is it?

It is hard to do because whe I click reply to quote I can no longer see the other post. Unless I open 2 windows with the posts so I can easily cut and past from one screen and answer all in one post.

what i do is reply to one post. then reply to the other post you wanted to reply and instead of pressing submit, select all, then copy, then go back to your previous post and select edit. then paste and you have two quoted replies in the one post!

If you look below the box you type your post into there's a scrolly window with many previous posts in it. Each post has a quote button to add that post into your post.

How do you cut??

CTRL+(C to copy)(X to cut)(V to paste) or use RMB menu.

EDIT: AHA! can't cut out of other ppls posts, unless you have the rights i suppose, or are cutting bits out of your quotes of other ppls posts.
