a Breakaway could happen if this isn't sorted and they will go to the boss of moto gp?

I can't see Mr. Money Bags Ecclestone signing a contract that was less than watertight in his favour; even if the BBC stopped showing the show; the licence payers will still have to foot the bill, besides F1 may be more attractive to floating motorsport fans than it is now if competition is stronger!

You can get strong competition in many racing series around the world, what makes F1 unique is its place at the top technological wise. The proposals duck wants to put in place in his dictatorship will take that uniquness away from F1. and in this case the breakaway series will be the pinnacle as it will be faster bigger and basically all that is F1 right now continued under another name. the sport known as F1 will resemble little of its former self and any F1 fan will naturally be drawn to the breakaway. Simple as that!

 The fans will go where the best drivers, teams and fastest most technologically superior cars are. That will be the new F1 and the old F1 will just be a feeder series..if that. Look at moto GP and superbikes. Which is the best most prestigious series?

The problems for the breakaway is that they get enough top teams, in other words they stick together. They need about six top teams at least and maybe run 3 cars each in intially.

Also the breakaway need to ensure they do not just replicate the mistakes F1 have made. They run it properly and fairly.

It'd be interesting to see how they'd present it. Using the MotoGP guys is a good starting point. I'd quite like to see how they'd present it. FOM does a damn good job with F1, but I'm open to alternatives.

FOM doesnt do that good of a job, s*** they dont even broadcast in HD nor do they have very good online content. MotoGP owns F1 in all fronts! racing too!

All true, I've long said Bernie's refusal to embrace new technology is to be his undoing.

I would also note that F1 does not even shoot in HD, which is just poor work.

However, the package they've put together, for what it is, is to a high value. Much better than, say, ball sports like Association Football.

Even I shoot in HD, and I'm a student. I distribute in HD. That the pinnacle of motorsport, one of the richest sports on earth and the so-called cutting edge of technology shoots and broadcasts in SD...Just utter facepalm.

I think you'll find the BBC will be able to disown F1 should all the teams leave it will be in the contract somwhere i expect.

Not to a British Audience who supports Button Lewis mainly.

The BBC will get out of it.

I believe that the British audience will support any Briton on the grid to a certain extent. Brits will support any British driver that is doing well; as a culture we are very fickle; how many people actively supported Jenson Button before this season; for the last two years it's been Lewis this; Lewis that; Jenson has hardly had a mention until his career was effectively relaunched this season with Brawn GP. Now suddenly we have Jenson this; Jenson that...

Also popularity will depend on coverage of the breakaway series if it happen. If it goes to Satellite or cable; viewership will be lower than F1; I doubt that people will pay an extra 50 pounds per month for Sky TV or NTL/Virgin just to watch GPWC or whatever name it may run under.

I dont support Jenson.

What if...

The breakaway series had a season against the original F1 then the overall winner of that takes control of the F1 empire. Just like WWE. Smackdown vs RAw and the better brand will take control. I would say breakaway would win then I'm sure they would run F1 the way we would like to see it.

Yes I know this is impossible but it would make an easy solution to the problem and would realisitically give the fans the outcome they want.

If only Bernie and Max looked at this forum and asked us for ideas :hehe:
