Rather than starting a new thread... Fuji would be more of a loss (imo) than the Hungaroring!

Fuji may give up on Japanese GP

By Pablo Elizalde Friday, May 29th 2009, 08:11 GMT

Japanese GP at FujiThe Fuji Speedway circuit may give up next year's Japanese Grand Prix due to financial reasons.

Fuji, owned by car maker Toyota, replaced Suzuka as the home of the Japanese race in 2007, but a spokesman for the manufacturer told news agency Reuters that it was considering pulling the plug on the race.

"(Fuji's company) FISCO tell us they are taking various elements into account in their consideration towards hosting next year's Japanese Grand Prix," Toyota's Paul Nolasco said.

Honda's Suzuka circuit hosted the Japanese Grand Prix from 1986 to 2006 and will return to the calendar this season as it alternates hosting the race with Fuji on a yearly basis.

Honda left Formula 1 at the end of last year in order to save costs.

Shame, we've had two good races there.

Suzuka is better anyway...

No doubt. If only we had a bloody decent Japanese driver in F1, we could maybe have the 'Pacific GP' back at Fuji instead of.... well, take your pick of the crap tracks! :hehe:

Fuji I just think is an uninspired track. I mean, when you have to choose a japense GP, there only is one place to go, and that's Suzuka. Alternating between Suzuka and Fuji in my opinion, is like alternating the Belgium GP between and Spa and Zolder. One track is cleary better, and we shouldn't even be going to the other.

As for Hungary. We had one good race there, lets be honest. It's a nice track to drive, but completely boring to watch.

Fuji is boring, Suzuka is infinitely better.

I would literally be outraged if we lost Hungary. Seriously.

How come?

Think back a few years, what happened there.

I like being so sentimental :(

Besides, I've never found it that boring. It's a pretty interesting layout.

Please try to realize that those 73% are most likely newcomers to F1, within the last 5-10yrs, and the other 27% like tight courses or they, such as myself, have a sentimental attachment to Hungary because we witnessed the first race there and the political significance it meant at that time. To each to their own though as you mentioned :) .

If there is ONE TRACK out all those lost that I would love to see return it would be the original Österreichring.

Isnt the Hungaroring the one where Damon overtook Schumacher in an Arrows?:rofl: I love it for that alone!! And the expression on that Arrow's mechanics face when Damon's car slowed and he lost the lead. First and only Arrows win lost for a 5p seal  Still beat Schuey tho

I never saw the Österreichring, was it any good?

I'd like to see old Hockenheim back. Or the old Bus-stop chicane at Spa-Francorchamps.

Awesome track, it was so very, very quick. The elevation changes and the stunning backdrop are cool too. You can see the original layout compared to the new one here.

The Österreichring or the A1 ring as we all know it. Yeah I'd love to see that circuit back. It's a short circuit, but it shouldn't be too bad for overtaking. Especially if they sort out this turbulence problem soon.

Also, there's a new track being built in Hungary now. I wonder what it'll be like. Could it snatch the GP instead.
