5 - 1 are crap odds for Hamilton to get a podium i think, you'd basically be hoping for things to go very wrong for the 4/5 teams in front of McLaren! If it rains, a podium could be a bit more likely, but even then 5-1 wouldn't seem too appealing.

You really think that if they were to re-run the race 5 times he wouldn't get on the podium?

Yes, that is exactly what I think. I think they could run it 10 times and he is unlikely to see the podium. That is not a dig on his driving, it is saying that the Mclaren is not up to pace...which is not an opinion, it is a fact based on the previous races. Can Hamilton win in Monaco, sure he can..he has before...BUT the question is can he do so in the car he currently is driving? Not a chance in hell.

McLaren's real boost this year has been KERS. It is helping them a lot, and from all I've read....it will not help them in Monaco much. So, it comes down to pure pace...which the McLaren does not have. The fact is, setting a car up for pure mechanical grip as is needed on a slow course is as much a result of the driver's ability to tell the team what mechanically is needed as it is the skill of the mechanics. Lewis has never been known as a technical master when it comes to this sort of thing. Alonso.. certainly. Michael Schuey..yup. But Lewis.. no. So McLaren has a slow car, with a KERS boost that helps them alot....but the Kers is going to be useless and their driver isn't a technical guy. What in the world would make you think that Lewis is going to pull a podium out in Monaco when the rest of the season the McLaren has been nowhere? I don't see it happening. If I end up wrong, I will say as much...but I think putting 5-1 against is a safe bet.

Your post makes no sense since he won by over a minuite last year.

you saying he asked alonso to do a few laps to setup his car?

he can setup a car mate he's been doing it since he was 8

Is it your belief that he is driving last year's car this year in Monaco? Do you believe the other teams will be driving last year's cars as well? If yes, please disregard this post and seek professional help. If no, then please read my post again and attempt to grasp it. Car setup has never been his strong suit and this year the McLaren is a handful to setup. Last year it was not. I know you believe your sweet Lewis is all knowing and all seeing...but I believe otherwise. We shall see this weekend. Are you up for a friendly wager then?

True enough...but then his fans have been predicting a podium for dear sweet lewis every race this season....and their faces have not been red at every failure. Still, even a stopped clock is right twice a day so maybe Monaco will be the magic race for McLaren....but I doubt it.

Unless the clock is set to show 24hrs rather than the stupid am/pm :banghead::P:wink:

If you have a hat to eat that is, and if you have some sardines to eat with it. If you don't have either, then you could only still do it if you have money to buy those items, only if you can find shops that sell them.

I think the quickest and easiest way to put it is to consider Piquet's podium last year. He got completely lucky with the safety car, and didn't have anywhere near the pace to deserve finishing in such a postion, so he didn't get 2nd place 'on merit' so to speak. Do you see what i mean?

Oh, i understood what you meant alright,i was just making sure before i answered..

That's racing lol,if we lived by the merit rule then it would be boring as hell. Their will always be drivers who have had a bit of luck throughout the race and their will be drivers who didn't,that's F1 and as a matter of fact, that's life. How many drivers have their been that have won a race through chance, many i would bet. So in your book, every driver has to win through merit and not with a little bit of chance and luck,or else it's not a real win, right?

My next door neighbour won 50k on the lotto with 5 add the bonus ball, man i was upset because he does f..k all with his time but he still had a winning ticket, that's life.

no you see bill they get new cars every year? or have you not been watching F1?

Your going on about your personal idol Schui who was a apparently really good at setting up cars fine, but then you state that Lewis isn't as usual because you don't like lewis.

My point is that Lewis manged pretty well setting up cars last year since he was able to win a few races, especialy in monaco which he would of won by over 1minute if it wasnt' for nico's safty car blunder.

Also he's don't pretty well at car setups this year also since he's finished in the points for 4/5 races (obviously discounting oz).

The fact is you've said "lewis can't setup cars" then said "the Mp4/24 is hard to setup"

Which is it?

oh and the wadger if lewis don't get a podium you get a packet of walkers crisps half a bar of fruit and nut and 2 bottles of Magners cider, if he does get a podium i win your GT3 but can you convert it to RHD please.

Wow, i have literally no idea how you came up with that bizarre and twisted conclusion from this comment:

i really can't see any teams other than Brawn, Red Bull, Ferrari and Toyota making the podium on pure merit and pace, hence my earlier comments.

Twisted to you perhaps but it's just a straight question to me. Let's hope the above teams don't have a bit of luck or chance,we wouldn't want them to win without pure merit would we...

Anyway, time will tell..13 hours and 30 mins and counting till first practice.

well look how much ferrari improved with there updates who's to say Mclaren won't

its been one of those up and down seasons.

Just so we're clear, I have no idea where Lewis will finish, the McLaren pace changes from race to race.

I just wanted to intercede that Ferrari jumped so far so fast because of the scale of their upgrade. McLaren are making smaller iterations and at every race.

:-| Except i agree with you, usually when someone unexpected wins it's a sign of a good race. Problem is, it doesn't happen 90% of the time. What point are you trying to make exactly?

Hi
Lewis was only seen at the circuit very late today, around 3.50, most of the other drivers had been around all day.
Perhaps he was in th pit offices, who knows.
He sped in past all has fans, very low key, seemed to not want to be noticed. I did not see any autographs. Straight into the McLaren complex ( too big to be called a motor home). Heikki gave about 4 autographs then when in.
I get the feeling that both drivers are "under orders"
