I hate it when people cry racism for no reason. It belittles actual racism by association.

Why would Sutil say this if he did not believe it to be true, as he and Lewis are friends who raced together before F1 careers began. And a reply with the starting phrase "I hate" seems a little out of place in this thread.

To address that final point first (Because it is ridiculous) "I hate" is a phrase used to express an opinion...Since this is an issue up for debate, I fail to see your point.

Sutil would say it because he is trying to make excuses for his friend. People do it all the time, they see their friends in a rough spot, so they come up with ways to excuse any mis-deeds on their friends' part. You can't take Sutil's opinion as Gospel just (And indeed, especially) because he is Lewis's friend. His opinion is biased by the fact he likely doesn't think Lewis is doing anything wrong.

I have said it before and I will say it again. Crying racism where none is apparent is tantamount to both positive discrimination and trivialising actual racism.

I think Sutil is crying "Help Lewis cos he is my mate and Mercedes want me too, therefor my team wants me to, therefor I must"

Perhaps Mercedes wants to be in Lewis' good books and is letting McLaren dangle in the wind

Nobody cares that he is abit of a different colour. Please I hope F1 doesnt get worried about all this. You can't do anything in confidence if racist stuff goes crazy.

you telling me. In my country I am very well known for pressing this issue. for this reason I could never reveal my true identity. but it is so strong in many countries that wars have and is still being fought becoz of it. so damn stupid .. its just not funny. anyway, I have it on good authority that about 78% of males in the world posess the ability to be in schumi's or hamilton's shoes. as long as they have been exposed to the sport at some point. so why the issue in this case. ?? no really ... why ???

All the people saying that Mclaren gets treated more harshly - of course it does, it's (majorly) flaunted the rules on several occasions over the last few years. I don't want Mclaren to get kicked out of the sport (especially at present), but how many more duck will ensue before they just knuckle down and keep their head under the parapet for a couple of seasons? For all Hamilton's driving ability, he's certainly not very good for macca at the moment - and you have to consider would they be better off without him?

IMO it'd be good for all parties if Hamilton were to either toe the line or move to somewhere promising such as Toyota.. As easy as it is for LH and his dad to blame macca management, their partnership is currently tarring both their reputations and damaging their 'value'

What does this have to do with the topic of the thread? Please enlighten me if I missed it? :)

Thing is when everyone starts worrying about racism, you can't say a thing. Then everything is aload of poo. Everyone is treading on eggshells.

None of us can say for sure if the topic valid or not. We're all on the outside looking in and shouldn't make claims for or against it. I certainly thought about due to what seems like inconsistency with rulings against Hamilton. But it could also be contempt for Mclaren which he happens to drive for.

However, SUTIL IS AN ACTIVE F1 DRIVER AND KNOWS THE PARTIES INVOLVED. Friend of Hamilton or not, we have to consider the issue serious when someone like him ponders the question.

Sutil is a biased source and a lone voice. That makes his data anomalous

Lone voice? Sutil is 1 of only 20 current F1 drivers. How many drivers would it take to make anything that any of them say valid? And why would they? No matter the reason, penalizing another driver only helps them.

The fact that Sutil hinted at anything like this makes him either an incredible friend or a much less competitive driver than the rest.

Nobody apart from Sutil says it, nobody at all. Until there's a decent volume of people saying it (And presenting decent evidence) it's not likely to be true.
