Indeed, Bernie has made it abundantly clear he will take F1 to countries which have no business holding races before he will give races with more history and support even a glance.

A breakaway series ideally should be avoided, but I think there is no enough support amongst the Formula One teams and fans for change. Let's face it, Ecclestone's grand plans for Formula One are not exactly popular. For instance, great tracks have been/are being taken off the calendar as a matter of course now. If the breakaway series said venues like Spa Francorchamps, Hermanos Rodríguez etc. were being brought back, and that the sport would be governed in more professional and impartial manner, I dare say it would do quite well.
