I dunno entirely. I can certainly understand why many Alonso fans, in Spain and elsewhere, aren't too fond of him. Basically the same thing were said of Schumi by a fair number of Dill fans way back when. That rivalry was short lived but the displeasure at Schumi lasted a while. Maybe a minority of so called fans, in whichever country, let the colour of his skin cloud their judgement but I think vast majority aren't particular fans for other reasons.

Maybe that's me being naive though.

Ah who give's a toss now that he is the new WDC and those, not you mate  , who want to bringup the race card need to growup right?

Well yeah, I was a Damon Hill fan and I did pretty much regard Schumacher as the Devil incarnate, but I was up watching the race early in the morning when Schumacher was panicked into driving into Damon in Australia, so I don't think Schumacher's reputation among us Hill fans was totally undeserved. It didn't mean I thought any less of his talent though, as infuriating as it was.

I hate it when people think I support Lewis, because he is British or whatever.

NO

I support Mclaren, I am a team supporter. Of course I am HAPPY that Lewis won the WDC because to me, Mclaren won it as well.

He drives for my team, I cheer him on, if he left Mclaren, I wouldn't follow him to another.

Mclaren always, never the driver. But hears to more years of winning

:hehe::drink:

When I wear my McLaren stuff, people ask am I a Hamilton fan? It pisses me off! I'm a McLaren fan! I've been supporting the team since the days of Senna! As far as I'm concerned, Hamilton is just another employee of McLaren. Formula One is a team sport: you win and lose together as a team. It's about symbiosis. Hamilton's drivers' title is the culmination of several thousand people's work; and winning the constructors' title is consequence of having two drivers who get the best out of the equipment they are given.

Completely agree, I was talking to my friend last night and he couldnt understand why I support the team and thought it was stupid how I dont support the British drivers, Lewis wins for Mclaren good! If he leaves Mclaren, I do not care

Haha. Yeah, true enough. Completely bogus move. I was happy for Hill when he did win the WDC. Would have sucked for that to have been the moment it slipped away for him for good.

Shumi is a definitely a marmite driver but those on either side will concede he was a hell of a driver, foibles and all.

Perhaps I'm a bit of a promiscuous fan but I've never followed just one team or just one driver - I've always had a sort of "portfolio". Generally it's been McLaren-based or whoever is best placed to show up Ferrari, but even when he was at Ferrari I had a soft spot for Rubens and after his performance this year it'll probably be the same for Felipe.

Actually one thing I do hate is that since I am a Hamilton fan I am assumed to be part of some bandwagon. I first saw Hamilton in the pages of Autosport in the late 90's, then saw some coverage of his karting days on TV, then first saw him in the flesh in his second Formula Renault race back in 2002.

Mind you, I was part of the Damon Hill bandwagon in 1994, so I suppose the moral is that everybody's part of some bandwagon sometime, and all you can do is guide the rookies to a point where they have their favourites but at the same time have an objective view...

My question to you guys is, why do so many people HATE Lewis?

It´s not about hate, atleast for me. I like some drivers, I am neutral about some and then I dislike some. Lewis just happens to fall in to the dislike category. One race doesn´t put a driver from liked to disliked, it´s the whole season and everything that happens during the season. Lewis is a good driver and a great addition to the current line of F1 drivers but personally I think he needs to fix up his ontrack attitude against fellow drivers. I don´t know if he has a history of destruction derby or something but he needs to get his head together and understand that you can´t risk another drivers race just to get by him.......
Anyways, there is always changes happening every single season and one day I might be able to say that I actually like him as a driver, but for now he is on the disliked drivers list for me. :wavey:

Aparently he has said he will never beat Schumi's records.

Thats sensible.

He said he was not aiming to beat them. See, you can't help twisting things like the Joker, can you? :banghead:

What you tyring to prove????????????????????????????????????
That is still sensible and not arrogant like the first thing I said. :banghead:

i dont 'hate' lewis, but im definitly not fond lol

most of it is living in england with an english star and half english team, it gets shoved down ur throats,

i really dislike when [particularly f1] someone like lewis does well, everyone jumps on the bandwagon, fans of other teams get the short straw, on coverage and attention,

i also dislike the. 'and everyone would love to see lewis take the WDC' statements from the press,

ive no doubt itd be worse in germany in the schumacher days or in spain [particularly] when alonso won [good times :) ] but it just grates on me

so thats where my dislike for 'lewis' comes from

i do appreciate he puts up with alot of stick and racism, and even with the penalties and burning ou tyres etc, makes the races interesting

I've been a lewis fan for much longer than the time he's been in F1.His racing excites me like no other. For me its about the driver more than the team (Though Mclaren have got in my blood of late).
Having said that I equally dislike bandwagon riders. But they should not make you dislike Lewis. they are an annoying byproduct of his outstanding talent and success.

I'm wary of being too harsh on bandwagon riders. If Lewis brings them into the sport, that's good. There's a transition they need to make between just being caught up in the fuss of one guy and actually developing a genuine interest in the sport, but you've got to start somewhere!

Yes you have a point there. Perhaps its the folk that let bandwagoners and media form their opinions of racers that i should take issue with :D

When a driver crashes into another driver it is called an "accident". Duhhh!. No doubt you didn't like him last year where he made less mistakes as well... :banghead:

I am glad that you acknowledge when you are being arrogant. The reason I said that in your post was because that is not what Lewis said. He infact said something along the lines of not aiming to break any records.

That is a good point.
But I can't find any way to be patient with them

Since you seem to be a real brainer I guess you call a plane flying in to WTC a "accident" too right?
There are many ways to have an accident but there are just as many ways to play dirty. Take your brain out of somewhere it shouldn´t be and USE IT!!!!! Ok?
