I know DD was being polar... I think without the d-thru he could have ended up fighting Kubica, and considering the BMW was struggling, maybe even finish behind Heikki. But that's only assuming he would have done well vs the faster and more experienced drivers (hence harder to pass). So taking into acct. how erratic he was on his 1st stint vs the little leaguers we can only assume it would have gotten worse higher up the grid, so points would have been difficult anyway...
Fact is Mclaren's package wasn't a winner at Magny cours, so climbing up was going to be definitely uphill... but eventually Hekki's (and Jarno's) final position came from great drives even in the tricky conditions near the end; and because... well, the other's package wasn't that good either.

if it takes a super computer to work out what possie Hamilton would have finished if not for the drive through how is darwin able to suggest that he wouldnt have scored points... its a polar outlook DD put forward.stepping on your own feet really.
