funny,
if it takes a super computer to work out what possie Hamilton would have finished if not for the drive through how is darwin able to suggest that he wouldnt have scored points... its a polar outlook DD put forward. stepping on your own feet really.

Alright alright :) I know DD was being polar... I think without the d-thru he could have ended up fighting Kubica, and considering the BMW was struggling, maybe even finish behind Heikki. But that's only assuming he would have done well vs the faster and more experienced drivers (hence harder to pass). So taking into acct. how erratic he was on his 1st stint vs the little leaguers we can only assume it would have gotten worse higher up the grid, so points would have been difficult anyway...

Fact is Mclaren's package wasn't a winner at Magny cours, so climbing up was going to be definitely uphill... but eventually Hekki's (and Jarno's) final position came from great drives even in the tricky conditions near the end; and because... well, the other's package wasn't that good either.

No the MP4 23 wasnt a winner at France but if there was a normal qualifying for both drivers( no penalties to deal with) i think they would have had 3 and 4th quite easily

Exactly, but notice I mentioned 'climbing up' was going to be tough... because as it was, they needed a great package to charge up that field.

What do you call Heikki's drive? that would be classed as up the field if you ask me started 10th finished 4th. Great pace for sure fantastic :hehe:

Hamilton, without his debatable drive-through penalty, would also have come 6th, maybe even 5th.

No doubt he'd have called himself a legend then :P

I think he had a great drive! i mentioned that a few minutes ago in another thread and yesterday on the french gp thread... That's my point, Heikki got his position as a result of his great drive... Lewis needed an even better drive to be able to charge up the field with his strategy and car.

Here's the first thing I wrote yesterday on the french GP thread:
Ahh great race by Heikki coming from the back and with some nice battles. In the end Trulli got him on witty driving and taking advantage of the partly wet track... that's experience when it counts! But great race anyway by both Heikki and Trulli.

But this thread isn't about Mclaren... it's about Massa. Oh wait a minute... :scratchchin::)

There was a debatable one too? I thought he only got one for cutting a chicane.

I thought he was well past Vettel going into the first part of the chicane, as evidenced by Hamilton being able to turn in fairly normally. If the FIA are so convinced that Hamilton was guilty, why don't they release the exterior footage of the maneuver to bring an end to any doubt?
#51417
Cos theyd look stupid, he was past. Poor FIA ruling yet again against McLaren. Or worse
#51418
The penalty was so such a cert, of course, that seasoned racing drivers cannot even agree on whether or not Hamilton was guilty. Show us the footage, FIA, or have you something to hide?

Im sick of Mclaren fans finding every excuse under the sun to pass off bad races lately i mean hell LEWIS CUT THE CHICANE AND GAINED AN ADVANTAGE. i want them to win as much as any other mclaren fan on this forum but im getting sick of the 'we are unfairly treated by the stewards' bullpoo.

Mosley and Dennis were never friends, yet Mclaren being victimised has only surfaced in the last couple of years......
Ferrari are doing a better job than Mclaren this year, it sucks but thats the truth of it.

Im probably gonna piss alot of pple off with this post........ oh well

Mclaren are much the architects of thier own downfall in recent years. It's very sad to see a team like this self destruct

I don't think anybody involved with McLaren-Mercedes or following the team would claim that the team has been run as slick as it could have been. I, for one, have been disappointed by some of what has been going on at the team. That said, the team's success has also been reduced by the actions and ways of the FIA a number of times.

No doubt the FIA has been a thorn in Mclaren's side but most of these things were self inflicted and silly mistakes. For an experienced team like them it not a good excuse to blame the FIA 100%.

99% then

Here is a solution. First get rid of Ron Dennis and secondly rename the McLaren team to the Mercedes team and then there wont be no more cheating Ron Dennis to pick on nor a McLaren team for that matter. It will be a German Mercedes team and with no need to have to pick on them. Then the problem will be solved and Mercedes will be able to concentrate on beating both Ferrari and BMW-Sauber.

It is well known fact that cheaters are always first to point their fingers on other people...

Keep some dignity, AKR...

What did Bruce McLaren ever do to you? How would you feel if Ferrari were re-named FIAT?
