^^ How can you say that Michael was a lot like Alonso??
Assuming you meant the other way around...
the only reason Alonso resembles Michael is because great drivers influence the coming generations. Take Senna, he has been probably the most influential driver of all times. You can tell a lot of Michael's younger style came from Senna and then some from Prost too...
Also, about the time when MSc retired, he was getting beaten and NEVER put up a jealous-boy show. Never complained about anything, and has never criticised Alonso or whomever beat him. To me, Schumacher's greatness is more obvious now than when he was winning.
He retired bacause he said so: the day a younger driver consistently beats me, its time to go. So yes, this kinda admits that Alonso... beat him. So what?? doesn't matter much... and he probably never meant to be eternal. It is now up to the others to match his achievements.
