ArtHowe wrote:I think that as a TEAM leader, Hamilton probably has more essential interpersonal skills than Alonso has displayed to this point. I'm sorry, but I can't agree that Alonso is blessed with any leadership skills. Ok, I might agree with you regarding Hamilton's off-season experience but his current performance suggests that this will be something that he adapts to with ease. If he doesn't perhaps Alonso can continue to justify his paycheck by doing it while the champion relaxes.Well said! what is all this rubbish from that other guy that lewis cant set up a car? the only time he got it wrong was silverstone. Who cant adapt to the tyres? Who cant stay on the track? Who keeps having mardies (northern expression for childish tantrums)? If he wants to be team leader he should act like one! start driving faster and stop dicking around.

He can too win this WC, but then it could be the last time of his so young career. Better wait and acquire all the missing skills, by my point of view.

A resounding silence was the answer. That's funny
BMW, when did he first drive in a championship F1 event? Is this his rookie season? Is he leading the championship? How many podiums has he had out of how many races?Never said he didn't do all that stuff. Never said LH wasn't a rookie, just said Alonso is more of a rookie WITH McLaren then LH. BTW, this is a discussion board, not a chatroom, people have other things to do instead of sitting in a basement waiting for replie. Still funny, sitting there for 8 minutes
Of course. I used Senna vs. Prost as an example of the old F1, without traction control, launch control, with the gears far from the wheel and much more... I too think that FA is giving to LH just what the team pretends he gives, nothing else. But this little bit has been important, so far. Is quite normal that a driver with so many years of XPerience is more used to find quicker the setup, to talk with the engineers about a specific technical problem.... But is not a matter of skills, is a matter of time and to be used to, and in his case, will be a very very short time, this is my opinion.
And I agree with everything you just said.So then, do we agreed that LH, as a rookie, can't setup his car better then Alonso??

ArtHowe wrote:I absolutely agree Internos. I don't, however, think that Alonso is a particularly generous teacher and, if all he can teach him is gamesmanship, I think Hamilton should continue to learn on his own. I don't recall saying that he thinks he has nothing to learn. In fact, I recall on several occasions recently when he has referred to the fact that he is still learning. Prost was not driving a 2007 McLaren and it is totally irrelevant to today, as you must agree. If the two times world champion is behind at this stage then it, inevitably and without question, attests to the quality of the man who is leading the championship. My problem is that there are those on this forum who, for one reason or another, deny Hamilton the kudos that is rightfully his.
My problem is that there are those on this forum who, for one reason or another, deny Hamilton the kudos that is rightfully his.I don't think anyone is denying kudos to LH. As a rookie, he's better then expected, he's leading the World Championship. But like all drivers, each of them has a weakness and since this thread is reserved for LH, so people are pointing out what his weakness is. Its not secret he has more trouble then Alonso in setting up the car, because he's a rookie, this is in no way a personal attack on him, its just the fact. Most of the negative things discussed about him right now has to do with what happened this weekend and what's been brewing in the McLaren camp. You can argue all you want about who's fault or who started, but the fact is it takes two people to fight. If LH wants to be a leader, just ignore Alonso, listen team instructions, and race, don't get draw into a "he said, she said" thing with Alonso and don't piss off your boss, RD.

Bmwpower wrote:All this crap about Hamilton's car setup skills is just blowing smoke and sour grapes. He is in his rookie season and no one in their right mind would expect him to have everything down pat. To this point he has proven his ability to learn extremely quickly. He has proven that he is focused and highly motivated. He has proven that he won't put up with crap from anyone and that his driving ability is second to none. He does't come from a wealthy background and has advanced his career every step of the way purely on commitment and ability. Anyone who detracts from his recent achievements is simply wrong-minded or malicious.
So then, do we agreed that LH, as a rookie, can't setup his car better then Alonso??
All this crap about Hamilton's car setup skills is just blowing smoke and sour grapes. He is in his rookie season and no one in their right mind would expect him to have everything down pat.So which one is it?? You said people are blowing smoke because LH can't setup his car better then FA, yet then you contradict yourself by say :
He is in his rookie season and no one in their right mind would expect him to have everything down pat.Like I said before, AS A ROOKIE, LH has a harder time then Alonso in setups, no one is taking away his achievements, his accomplishments, and . So me any posts by anyone that said all his wins this year wasn't deserving (except the Hungarian GP).
True but also with RD's deep pockets, few drivers can say they were handed the key to the empire as a boy.
He does't come from a wealthy background and has advanced his career every step of the way purely on commitment and ability.

alonso_campeon wrote:He didnt deserve that victory, thats all!!!Maybe yes, maybe not. What's sure is that Alonso didn't deserve to start from sixth position on the grid, it's simply unacceptable for everyone loves this sport!
