Just after Ferrari took his measurements...
Pretty convenient time for a surgery.
I know, that's what I thought
Regardless of what we speculate, or what we suspect, or what we assume,
in the end, it is what it is. Kimi's season is over. His stay at Lotus is over.
Here's wishing him a speedy recovery!!
For you zi season is over!
Not only does this benefit Ferrari in terms of having more chance of Kimi being fully fit for the start of testing, it helps their star driver too (suprised no one has mentioned it to be honest).
In the battle for 2nd in the WDC after Abu Dhabi:
2. Alonso - 217
3. Raikkonen - 183 (-34)
4. Hamilton - 175 (-42)
By taking Raikkonen out of the equation, it effectively hands Alonso 2nd on a plate - as Alonso only needs a 5th place finish in the last 2 races to acheive 2nd, and that would be if Hamilton won both races (highly unlikely he'd win 1).
That said, the battle for 3rd could be interesting - Hamilton, Webber and Rosberg seperated by just 16 points, all 3 should overtake Kimi fairly comfortably.
For 2nd in the WCC - I think if we have 2 "normal" weekends Merc should do it - purely because Massa never sustains his 1 lap and early race performance over the whole race. But one DNF or a crazy race in Brazil could swing it in Ferrari's favour. 11 points isnt a lot with 86 points to play for!
As for the American GP - I could see a Lewis mega lap to get pole, but cant see past Vettel for the win barring technical difficulties. I'll be focusing more on the race for 2nd to be honest!
Its strange that Ferrari signed Kimi on a long contract when knowing he was due for significant surgery.
Lets face it any surgery is a risk that his performance might be affected going forward. Maybe they always planned for Kimi to leave Lotus before the end to get the surgery done in time before the season
That could explain why Kimi, not having been paid all season suddenly started telling everyone and agitating for a strike etc
I am feeling that Lotus got royally screwed here by the Robertson machine. Lets face it if Kimi wasnt paid all season and continued to drive, he must have been confident of receiving his money later i.e. at the end of the season when the WCC money is received. Why would he suddenly decide enough is enough and start complaining?
Typical Ferrari arrogance perhaps?
Is Luca implying that timo glock let hamilton by?
