Lets face it any surgery is a risk that his performance might be affected going forward. Maybe they always planned for Kimi to leave Lotus before the end to get the surgery done in time before the season
That could explain why Kimi, not having been paid all season suddenly started telling everyone and agitating for a strike etc
I am feeling that Lotus got royally screwed here by the Robertson machine. Lets face it if Kimi wasnt paid all season and continued to drive, he must have been confident of receiving his money later i.e. at the end of the season when the WCC money is received. Why would he suddenly decide enough is enough and start complaining?
Typical Ferrari arrogance perhaps?
Can you put it past them? Especially when you have the sore loser psycho guy heading them, check out his speech for Massa's send off:
Luca De Losertemolo:
"Felipe has been a true Ferrari man and he will always be part of our history, for all the Grands Prix he drove for us, for the wins, the pole positions and for those few seconds when he was world champion that day in Brazil,
before that overtaking move that always seemed a bit strange to me," Montezemolo said. "We spent some great times together, while some others were more difficult, such as the accident in Budapest. These have been very busy years and today, I wanted to thank him publicly, having already done so privately, just the two of us."
