before I read the posts in theis thread, I will just say that Button did some really skilled driving today, a couple of banzai passes, and proved he's a worthy champion.

What Lewis did to Rubens is regrettable but let's not be too hard on Lewis. Believe me I am no big Lewis fan but I believe this to be just a mistake. All the drivers make mistakes, even the good ones. Sure it had dire consequences for Rubens, so unfair as to be stomach turning taking all those points from Rubens, and I think Rubens should be fuming at Lewis, and I do think Lewis should be handed some form of penalty, but only insofar as he committed an error.

Two points, the Lewis and Barichelo thing was just a racing incident not an error but if you want to argue blame you could equally well say that Rubens left no room and squeezed Lewis.

Point two it made no difference to the championship, even if Lewis hadn't overtaken Rubens Jens would still have won.

AHH just in time!

did anybody see the fair play from Brawn's mecanics by helping Kovalainen when he got the fuel hose stucked?

Nice to see.

Yes , I noticed that, it was nice to see. Very refreshing in the cut throat world of F1.

Congratulations to Jenson but to claim he was the best this season...please.

Being in the best car for 6-7 races at the beginning of the year doesn't mean you are the best (yes some might argue about Rubens case) but the point is where was Jenson after the first few wins.

So sad to see what happened to Rubens but please don't blamed it on Lewis. I'm no fan of Hami but common these things do happen but at the same time don't claim Lewis did a great job. Safety car and 6 retirements I guess can help a long way. Yes it takes skill to get there and maintain it but it's not all skill. Let the bashing start...

Great job by Kimi, Vettel and Kobayashi

I agree about Jenson.

Just out of curiosity, why did the safety car and retirements help Hamilton but not Raikkonen and Vettel?

Ham passed Kimi on track and lapped faster basically. Vettel on the other hand didnt change strategies. His first stop came a long time after the SC.

Did Raikkonen change to a one stop like Hamilton did when he changed his nose? Either way, can't blame the guy for not being on top form after he got friggin petrol in his eyes.

yeah same strategy. Yeah stinging eyes wouldnt have helped but didnt seem to hinder his pace at all.

Hamilton's change of strategy was a good move but I still think he did a "great job" on track. Many drivers benefited from cars retiring and returning to the pits, Button went from 14th to 9th (lucky bugger) after the messy start.

kimi had a pretty good race, despite being set on fire and having a car doused in gasoline (that smell would knock me out). I thought Vettel was great too, as was Kubica.

Why did Masa get a drive though in Singapoore when he dragged the fuel hose down the pitlane yet Mclaren get a $50k fine?

And Hekki gets a 25sec Penalty?

I didn't know they'd got a fine. The officials were a bit slow with all the penalties during the race, nobody got one while they were still running. What were the penalties (if any) for Heikki's incident with Fisichella, Kobayaski with Nakajima and Trulli with Sutil? It was a busy weekend, lol.

McLaren fined for pitlane incident

Sunday, October 18th 2009, 21:02 GMT

The McLaren team has been fined $50,000 for the Brazilian Grand Prix incident that triggered a fire in the pitlane.

Heikki Kovalainen left the pits before the fuel hose was detached from his car and the fuel spilt sprayed Kimi Raikkonen's Ferrari and caused a fire in the pitlane.

The stewards deemed Kovalainen's release had been unsafe and fined the team, also giving the driver a 25-second penalty that dropped him from ninth to 12th.

Thanks Gaz.

I see Trulli got a fine too despite blaming Sutil :hehe:

Jarno Trulli has been slapped with a fine for his aggressive altercation with Adrian Sutil during Sunday's Brazilian Grand Prix.

Trulli and Sutil were ordered to appear before the stewards following their first-lap collision, which forced both as well as Fernando Alonso out of the race.

The Force India driver was boxed in and Trulli tried to fight round the outside of but failed and crashed into the side of Sutil's car.

The Italian was quite upset with Sutil after the incident and he was seen pushing the German on television.

The stewards, though, found it was just a racing incident but decided to fine Trulli $10 000 and officially reprimanded him for his behaviour as it was a breach of the sporting rules.
