That's it in a nutshell, its all about with condition applies. If you ask me the argument for either "condition" (one in which the safety car is non deployed, one in which the SC was just going in as its the end of the race) is pretty even.

We don't know what condition applies. Why isn't Race Control telling us which condition applies?

Probably becuase at the time it slipped their mind IMO.

I had no issues with the overtake but the rules say otherwise. Unless an official statement is issued that changes the order I stand by the rules setforth.

the provisional FIA standing is Schumacher 6th not the other way around.

Safety car in, green flags waiving, SC line already passed Alonso stuffed up Schumacher passed. It will stand.

The only grey area is due to the fact that no-one from the FIA has confirmed whether or not the safety car was still technically out at the end of the race. Aside from that the rules are pretty damn clear as you say, so i am equally confused as to why there is any real debate here.

This is my view on the matter too. Race Control should know whether the race was ending under the safety car (in which case the SC comes in but the race finishes under SC conditions) or whether the safety car was coming in because the SC period was ending. If they're not able to instantly say what case we have, then that's due to Race Control incompetence IMHO.

I don't think it'll matter now which it was, if it has to be clarified then the FIA would be admitting it wasn't specific in why the safety car was pitting. I doubt anything will be done either way.

Green flags certainly suggest the race had restarted, no question there.

I would be happy with that result, is the most interesting part of the race right :hehe: ??

Agreed. :)

Brawn said Race Control sent out the message 'safety car in at the end of this lap' which implies that the race was indeed technically restarting. They wouldn't have sent it out this message otherwise, as is my understanding (and Ross Brawn's, obviously - and he's in a pretty damn good position to know about these things).

My mate informs me that this is the first Grand Chelem since Hungary '04. A surprisingly long time ago!

Actually, it isn't. Vettel scored the fastest lap this race, not Webber. :P

So he did! Ah well. :hehe: I wonder where he was hiding that pace for the rest of the GP.
