No way Massa was going to make it, the strategy for him wasn't the same. He started on Primes then switched to options, Rosberg did the opposite. His drive today was executed as best as possible given the lap one mishap. Flawless from lap two on. He did what a good number two driver should, maximize the points haul for the team.

Boring procession or not, I'd rather have talent determine the winner in this championship instead of reliability and questionable events making that determination for us.

I'd still support Hamilton ending it all quickly in Abu Dhabi with a big F/U to Bernie for the cockamamie double points idea by taking both Silver Arrows out at turn one and walk over to the Merc hospitality trailer to watch the remainder of the race as a double WDC.

PS, I had to use spell check to spell cockamamie.

I'd say Massa's strategy was still meant to get him to the end of the race, otherwise why pit so early? I imagine it was a gamble from Williams on
unpredictable degradation, but Massa suffered in traffic, despite his pace advantage. And I know Massa isn't exactly the best benchmark but you
gotta use what you got.

And I want the championship decided fairly too, and we got a lot of ifs and buts again from Rosberg concerning potential pace he would have had
without things getting in the way. I want the dry race scenario and no mistakes for him to prove it. Which I realise is hand in glove because sometimes
he makes the errors that take that simple scenario away, so it's his own fault, but I believe Hamilton wouldn't be having such an easy ride of late without
them, especially on tracks where Hamilton hasn't had a clear advantage. There's only Monza of late where Hamilton had it in the bag regardless.
Yesterday was hard to tell because they were on different strategies, quali was close, and those FP times weren't fully representative.

I'm not really expecting doomsday in Abu Dhabi. It's a slight concern, and there's the English Effect that might kick in, but Hamilton has his
nose infront, metaphorically and literally (well not literally, but I can't think of the -lly to cover it); he just seemed amazingly at ease all weekend.
A completely different attitude to earlier in the season. I don't think a knock will set him back like it did then; he's taken and kept the lead, which is
something new - this is no longer the fret of chasing but the confidence in leading, and leading on merit.

And congrats on cockamamie. It's always nice when the older folk can bring back a bit of their slang.

Oh, a few points to address there.
Take a Lewis out? Why? And he was too out of control to do that anyway . And Lewis was wise enough to leave him loads of space, so his little excretion was always going to be a solo one.

The longevity of the tyres didn't work against Rosberg it saved him. Had they not lasted an extra pitstop would have cost him dear....and he was pushing, he was getting purple sectors and fastest laps.

Just a few things that stood out go me there. Vergne I agree did well. I loved his early battle with Mags, that was mega!

He should have just T-boned Hamilton, no questions. That would have been awesome.

And yes, ultimately the tyres saved Rosberg but there was still a bit of the unknown about how best to handle them. He didn't know if he could just drive
hell for leather or how soon a drop off may come, if at all. After a bit of first lap idiocy it was a good recovery.

It's a real shame Vergne is only putting himself on the radar now. F1 needs drivers like him but he's put himself in this position.

I don't know if Vergne's attempts are a case of too little too late. He's got lots of F1 experience and it's crazy that he'd shuffled out the door at the age of 24. He was looked over for Daniil and I'm sure that's got to be causing a whirlwind of emotions. Did he do enough to get the Red Bull job last year? No. Did he do enough to get the job this year? I think he's done enough. No one deserves anything in the sport, you've got to fight for it but I don't think it would have killed Kvyat to sit at STR for another year while they gave JEV a shot at a Red Bull seat.

I think most of us questioned if picking RIC was the right thing to do last year and he has been Stella this year. The same people have seen the same thing in Kvyat so he should be good.

I think the trouble was that RBR has already given JEV his marching orders. To back down and say ok we will have him for the senior team but he is not good enough for the junior team, that would be odd.

I find it odd that none of the smaller teams have signed anyone. No way will the whole grid be waiting om Alonso

...Boring procession or not, I'd rather have talent determine the winner in this championship instead of reliability and questionable events making that determination for us...

But, is it really "just" talent?? Considering, all we've heard all season long was how great Mercedes is,
how they got the engine right, how no one was going to catch them (thanks to the in-season freeze),
how is this championship going to be any different to the ones being won by Vettel at Red Bull?

p.s. that's actually a rhetorical question, since we all know the answer is going to be:
Hamilton makes the difference!
#421014
...I can understand the frustration that the team you support were maybe unable to produce a good engine with all that time they were given. Life's such a bitch sometimes...

And, then you marry the son of one... which is comparable to the in-season engine freeze!!

Part of Ricc's surprise is because of the new regs. Nobody expected such a performance jump. Kvyat will be racing under the same regs as this year so there won't be
such a big jump. He has to improve his racecraft, and that's not going to happen overnight. The spotlight at Red Bull is only going to add pressure. It's a hasty move and
a bit of an FU one to Vettel.

Not a Lewis fan but he drove a great race from the front. Nico went from almost last to 2nd so either he is a great driver or the Mercedes is a great car? I think Lewis has the confidence now to go all the way and although I still am not a fan I am always impressed when he gets it right.
I think Lewis will and should win the WDC and I will applaud him because he is much better than Nico.

I like Seb so I might find myself a bit of a Ferrari supporter, but I like Nando...... ..

Maybe it was a knee jerk signing.

It's a hard one to judge. Maybe they're not expecting the Renault PU to improve enough to challenge for titles next year so get Kvyet imbedded if
there is a title challenge later, and let DR carry the load in the interim. That's my sympathetic view. My less sympathetic one is he's a sacrifice for hubris.

This move is giving a lot of people sleepless nights.

If it is confirmed, the anxiety levels might drop!!

Nobody's mentioned the Grosjean penalty. A minor incident that got him penalty points on his license. Even the five-seconds penalty was harsh, but both is just bizarre.

These tight little chicanes are causing the stewards a lot of confusion. It's not sending a clear message to the drivers.
