Just rummaging through the driver's career stats. Only two drivers active in F1 today have taken pole more times than Vettel. One, of course, is Schumacher. The other is Alonso. If Vettel takes the upcoming pole in Spain, his number will equal Alonso's, despite having 97 fewer starts (and one fewer WDC). He also has more victories than any active driver in F1 save those same two and plus Hamilton. He is just two wins behind Hamilton so that could change this season.
I think Vettel matured a lot in the off-season. I'm sure he realises how much he could have dominated the 2010 statistics if not for three races spoilt by mechanical difficulties, a fourth by his own glittering stupidity and a fifth by an aerodynamic anomaly (or his own glittering stupidity, depending on your point of view). He looks to be quite keen on making the best of the opportunities he is presented this season.

Dude, he pushed 2 drivers out of the track, doing more then one move when they tried to attack him... I call that dirty!
c'mon Vlad it was an awesome drive, if it stayed wet Lewis probably would have won.

A lot of people would call that aggressive driving, racing, and it's clearly what a driver skilled at overtaking will do. Which is the point folks are trying to make here, we've not seen that from Vettel. Ever.
To his credit, he's not had to.
He clearly forced Glock outside of the race track. I call that dirty. Have you watched Vettel's overtaking at Silverstone last year?
I have to agree, Vettel is not a clean overtaker. He might try to be but it always seems like he rushes it and just when he thinks he has got past he messes it up. You can see that in Turkey, Spa and Silverstone (on sutil). He gets a tow or alongside and then just seems to panic or overestimate his car's ability.
I have to agree that Vettel gets on my nerves because of his incompetent fans that know nothing about F1.
A "clean" overtaker? That seems like such a crock filled meaningless word. Any pass that is achieved without incident and without being unnecessarily aggressive to the point of being warned or penalized by a steward is clean by the racing rules. There are overtakers that may make their passes seem effortless, there are passes that are born from frustration or an urgency to get by, and there are passes that are just one driver out willing another driver, so this is what I think is being discussed, (I guess dirty would be the opposite of clean) which is in fact not the case. If you make a habit of endangering the other driver, running them off the track or wind up making unnecessary contact because of a poor execution, then yeah, you could call that dirty, inept, unskilled whatever but I will still maintain that there is generally more dirt strewn by the drivers being passed than by the drivers doing the passing.

to be honest, there arent many clean overtakers in the sport today (or any specific era actually). Right now, the cleanest overtakers are Heidfeld and alonso. The rest arent all that clean, even the current 'overtaking king' (Kamui Kobayashi), he isn't clean at all. EDIT [So it doesn't make much difference being clean or not. Its all a matter of keeping your car in one piece and not causing some unnecessary dirt to the other guy.]
Last yr both Webber and Vettel looked rather sketchy on their overtaking. So i dont think it was a matter of just Vettel being sloppy... This yr's car looks a lot more generous, and even if we havent seen Vettel do much either bad or good, i cant really say he's been dirty (or dirtier than the rest).
