From F1 Live:

On a day when Sky Italia took a poll during their broadcast of the British Grand Prix which found an astonishing 91 percent of viewers supported the Formula One Teams' Association stance, Max Mosley said the FIA will not proceed with legal action against the FOTA members, indicating he would rather reach a deal to stave off the threat of a breakaway championship.

"There won't be any writ. I think we would rather talk than litigate," the President of the Paris-based body said before walking the Silverstone grid.

Mosley, who in an earlier interview this weekend dismissed the FOTA figureheads like ‘the Bernie’ Flavio Briatore as ‘loonies’, claims there is actually very little the teams and the FIA is arguing about.

He invited the disgruntled rebel teams to "sit down and iron out the last few difficulties."

"It's definitely getting better - but these things take time," he explained. "The problem is we have eight teams and some want to sit down, some don't.
No doubt, eventually they all will."

He agrees with Martin Whitmarsh that time is a factor, after the McLaren boss said preparations for the breakaway will be too far advanced by the end of July.

"If this goes on for any length of time, it damages the teams. It doesn't affect the FIA, it damages the teams because it affects their sponsors," said Mosley.

Bernie Ecclestone said he was pleased to hear about Mosley's comments.

"If Max says (a deal) is close, then that's good," the F1 Chief Executive said.

Thats excellent news!

I don't know what to reckon to this breakaway series. Williams have signed up for the FIA's Championship next year and I can't see FOTA being too keen to invite them back in particularly whilst people like fraudster-Flavio are around. I don't think I would follow a FOTA series unless Williams were there.

And then to top it all off Mad Max will indulge in his second best fantasy of killing F1 for good by turnng it into a spec series full of stupid boring ovals.

There will be compromise as Max has already given his intentions away by his actions; delaying the announcement of the official entrant list indefinitely. It's been a game of bluff and double bluff; time to sort it out and get back to racing now that the season seems to be turning with the Red Bull 1 -2 at Silverstone. Mosley must know that he is alienating the potential new teams by delaying the announcement of next years entrant list so he must be gambling on retaining the FOTA teams for next year as the potential new entrants won't be put on hold indefinitely as time is short to get a F1 team together before next March!

A compromise will be met as there is too much at stake for all party's involved.

FOTA will have back up plans in which to make sure there reputation is secured? Also the Teams will have a back up pan, F1 is s you say F*cked :wavey:

according to portuguese newspaper record.pt, fota already has a schedule for 2010, here it is:

3 março, Argentina (Buenos Aires)
21 março, México (Hermanos Rodríguez)
11 abril, Espanha (Jerez de la Frontera)
25 abril, PORTUGAL (PORTIMÃO)
2 maio, Itália (Imola)
23 maio, Mónaco (Monte Carlo)
6 junho, Canadá (Montreal)
13 junho, Estados Unidos (Indianapolis)
1 julho, Grã-Bretanha (Silverstone)
25 julho, França (Magny-Cours)
15 agosto, Alemanha (Lausitz)
29 agosto, Finlândia (Helsinquia)

26 setembro, Emirados Árabes Unidos (Abu Dhabi)
10 outubro, Singapura (Marina Bay)

The major loss would be Brazil and Belgium GP but there would be a return of a lot of "classic" gps, including three north american GP's

It's just speculation. Especially Abu Dhabi, I'm pretty sure that they have exclusive deal with Bernie and he wouldn't allow FOTA to race there. But, on the other hand, Ferrari has some interest there 'cause of their center there.

I believe, it won't be a breakaway series. FIA and FOTA will find a solution for this problem with budget cap.

I think it all depends on Mosely not running for FIA president again in October. I think the teams have had it with him, I think F1 needs him to leave now.

That's true. Max has done a lot of good thinks for F1 in recent years, but, last year's scandal and his crazy ideas for the future aren't welcomed. He should have resigned last year, but he didn't. So, I'm sure he will be candidate for FIA president again.
