I suppose in the long run, standardising the likes of brakes etc, will save the teams money in the future and allow privateers to keep the series running. I think TOCA should be applauded for at least acting. Many series have no long term future plans and go from one crisis to another.

How much is the running cost for a car over the course of a season though? (would love to see the repair bill for Matt Neal :hehe: )

I think I'm just irked because I like seeing the mix of FWD and RWD cars in the field and it'll be sad to lose the Bimmers.

I suppose it will depend on the team. I remember last year my dad talking to a bunch of the Seat engineers and they were giving him prices of tyres, and things. Crazy!.
Then taking a walk down to BTC racing, and the figures were much lower.
Even so I couldn't afford it

Maybe that's why the Neal family kicked Matt out of team dynamics... to allow VXR to pick up his racing tab?
In saying that... Rob Collard likes to thump others...

The best bit of driving yesterday came in race 3 with GIO and James Thompson. That is how touring car racing should be.

Maybe they could let in older Touring cars as long as they're on the pace, get the old Andy Rouse prepared Sierra Cosworth RS500's back in I reckon Tim Harvey could still do a job too, and there's plenty of old BTCC drivers currently in the WTCC.

As promised, here's some photos from Croft. The videos will follow tomorrow as I've got a rather poor internet connection at the moment. :)

EDIT: Videos will have to wait until I get back, internet is so poor when I try and upload my video on Youtube the connection drops off after a while and I have to start all over again, and it's a 440MB file. :(

That Alfa was a brilliant car, especially going up against "Smokin' Jo" Winkelhock in the BMW.

Vaulkhard to race for new team

By Jamie O'Leary Thursday, July 16th 2009, 11:36 GMT

Harry Vaulkhard will race for a new team for the remainder of this year's British Touring Car Championship.

Bamboo Engineering has been set up by Richard Coleman, who has left his role as team director of Tempus Sport - the squad which has run Vaulkhard's Chevrolet Lacetti so far - following a series of disagreements with team owner Julian Tanser.

"We had some major fundamental differences over the engineering, operational and financial structure of the team with the owner of Tempus Sport, Julian Tanser. We therefore decided to breakaway completely and form Bamboo Engineering," said Coleman.

Vaulkhard will drive the same 2008-specification Lacetti as he has done throughout the season so far

"I'm really happy that this now gives the team more long term stability within all areas," he said.

"Everyone who has worked on my car this season is moving over to Bamboo which I'm very pleased about as it will maintain the continuity with the progress that we have made this year."

Bamboo has confirmed that Vaulkhard will remain with the team next year as well and is virtually certain to drive a Lacetti again, rather than the new Cruze model.

The announcement means that the Tempus name will disappear from the BTCC.

Weird political rumblings in the BTCC. If only Knockhill could come sooner, I could have asked about it...

The commentators for the Hungarian GP practice have said that Johnny Herbert is currently testing for Touring Cars so we might see him in the series in the future

I think he is trying to get Dynamics to run a third civic nearer the end of the season with the idea of maybe competing full time next year.

I think that may actually be the final three rounds of the year.

Yup, apparently TD want to run him, he was less than a second slower than Thommo's quickest lap in a recent test.

Brilliant race one at Snetterton. Sadly Plato didn't do himself any favours with his lunge on Turk.
Excellent victory for Giovanardi, but it is a pity Thommo had his failure, I think he might have pushed him nearer the end. WTF was with the safety car for one lap? They seem to just send it out whenever they feel like it.

ALso well done Paul O'Neill

Oh and another thing...

"Haha Matt Neil".
