I think it's safe to say that Vettel is only getting better. It really looked like he wasn't going to get it this year, for example come Monaco when he qualified 10th. To think, he'll probably be at his peak come the engine reg changes when I think it will be tough for him for a couple of years...

This Red Bull Team - Vettel, Webber, Horner, Newey plus others are one of the greatest teams in history. They really are on a good thing. I would hope it would stay the same until about 2016/2017 but all good things come to an end.

You know one thing I have realised? Vettel doesn't seem to care what the public think of him. He is always happy to mention that he had a good car (whilst I believe that he doesn't have the fastest car the last couple of races). If I were Vettel, I'd be out to prove to everyone else that I am really the best driver, but he doesn't seem to care.

Also, he's still earns way less than Hamilton and Alonso, and possibly half the grid. He doesn't have personal sponsorships as someone else pointed out, just a few Infiniti ads who are a team sponsor. I'm sure he would've earned a bit from Bernie for taking out the title, but I honestly think he is very underpaid.

Newey earns a much higher salary than him (some would say this is justified). I don't.

You would think so, but Hamilton was a billionaire at Vettel's age.

EDIT: Ok, I thought he was, but I can't find any news sources.... I seem to remember him being very wealthy and compared with Tiger Woods.

Salary is nothing. I'm sure Vettel ends up earning a good chunk o cash at the end of each yr.

Billionaire? where was this money coming from supposedly?

And you don't think Newey is worth the money? Would Neil Armstrong have made it to the moon without the engineers ?
Newey is worth every cent!

Why do you guys care about how much the drivers are earning? Am I missing something here....if there is a place to sign up for fans of drivers to earn some sort of profit sharing, please do inform me. :hehe:

Because what a driver earns is reflective of his talent. Hamilton and Alonso are 2 of the most talented. Vettel should be up there too.

Don't agree - what a driver earns relative to his team-mate should be reflective of his talent, but the actual figure depends on the resources and salary structure at the team he or she is in. You can't compare the salaries of Alonso, Hamilton and Vettel because they're all at different teams. You could only do this if there was one 'central' F1 salary budget, which there isn't.

Red Bull pays them both a flat fee and they get a bonus for points, so in that regards Vettel's relative performance is well-paid.

One thing to remember also though, is that Vettel turned down (several) personal sponsors at the beginning of the year so he could focus more on driving. Dedication right there.

How much a driver earns is dependent on many more factors than just his talent! Even amongst teammates.

And about Newey and Vettel....
Salary aside, and assuming everyone else would be available. If you had to pick 1 of them to be on your team... which??

Narain Karthikeyan has defended himself following another on-track incident with Sebastian Vettel in Austin. The HRT driver was accused of holding up his Red Bull rival in the opening sector, just moments before Lewis Hamilton stole the lead.

However, Karthikeyan says he was simply driving to Race Director Charlie Whiting's instructions, with backmarkers told to move out of the way after Turn 8.

"I cannot listen to this nonsense anymore," Karthikeyan is quoted as saying by Auto Motor und Sport. "In the drivers' briefing, Charlie said we do not have to let any one past in the twisty section of the first sector. It is simply not possible, because apart from the ideal line it is extremely dirty.

"Charlie told us that we should let the faster drivers pass after Turn 8, the first slow corner after the fast section. So that's what I did. Vettel was also present at the briefing, has he sometimes not been listening? He does this too often and it's too intense. Slowly, I'm starting to get tired of it."

Karthikeyan and Vettel memorably collided during this year's Malaysian Grand Prix, with the two-time Champion coming off worse and picking up a left-rear puncture.
