And you guys think that Bernie is happily sitting on his bottom looking at this mess? He's very, very clever--I betcha he's the one that's gonna fix this mess.

yep, i think that too. Bernie ain't by any means gonna risk his money. this has a long way to go yet. i just read the press conference from today. there is still room to maneuver here, but i don't think that the teams r bluffing.

Buemi and Bourdrais to compete in F1 and Vettel and Webber in FOTA.

If they had to enter a b-team in F1, could they advertise the FOTA championship on the cars?

Evil

N.Technology pulls F1 bid as FOTA courts them, Prodrive and Lola

Fri 19 Jun, 05:50 PM

N.Technology has withdrawn its application for a slot on the 2010 F1 World Championship starting grid, blaming the FIA’s ‘highly questionable process’ of selection, ‘wrong actions’ and ‘objectionable management methods’ that have ‘undermined the sport as a whole’ – and along with Prodrive and Lola, the team is already seemingly being eyed by the Formula One Teams’ Association (FOTA) to prospectively join its new breakaway series.

Like Prodrive and Lola, though perhaps less surprisingly, N.Technology was overlooked by the governing body for a place in next year’s field, and with the shock announcement earlier today that FOTA intends to pursue its threat to launch its own separate championship away from the jurisdiction of the FIA and its controversial president Max Mosley, the former World Touring Car Championship title-challenging outfit is understood to have lost interest in a category that it believes will lose much of its allure should its major teams and drivers walk away. And that is not the only one of its concerns...

‘With much regret, taking into consideration the highly questionable process conducted by the FIA – which is affected by many irregularities – and the uncertainties regarding the 2010 FIA Formula One World Championship, the MSC board decided last night to withdraw its application as Team N.Technology, under the new regulations allowing entry of ‘capped-budget’ teams,’ read a statement from the Italian operation.

‘MSC believes that through its wrong actions and objectionable management methods, the FIA severely hurt MSC’s efforts to become a new team and undermined the Formula 1 sport, taken as a whole. MSC shall consider making a new application when the Formula 1 environment is stabilised and the conditions are met for a transparent and loyal contest, ensuring visibility and predictability to the candidate teams. MSC wishes to renew its warm acknowledgements to the sponsors and technical and business partners who support its efforts to become a new independent Formula 1 team.’

In retracting its entry bid, N.Technology becomes the second of the potential newcomers to get cold feet in the light of the ongoing, highly destructive FIA/FOTA budget cap civil war, after Lola did likewise earlier on in the week. It is understood that both teams – as well as David Richards’ Prodrive/Aston Martin organisation – are now being courted by FOTA to join the new alternative series.

On a dismal day for the FIA, one shining ray of light at least remains in the form of Epsilon Euskadi, spearheaded by respected former Ferrari, McLaren and Benetton engineering guru Joan Villadelprat. The Basque concern was disappointed not to be chosen when the preliminary entry list was revealed at the end of last week, with USF1, Manor and Campos getting the nod over the other hopefuls.

Epsilon Euskadi boasts a state-of-the-art wind tunnel and what is said to be sufficient funding to make for a competitive proposition at the highest level, and whilst Villadelprat has admitted that he would prefer to compete against the major manufacturers, he urged that cost-saving is of the essence in the current economic climate – and called for a swift resolution to the ongoing political dispute to avoid any more damage being done than has already occurred.

“Tomorrow the definitive list is published and we will see what happens,” the Spaniard told newspaper 20 Minutos. “We were expecting to be competing with names with a long tradition like Aston Martin and Lola, yet all three have been left out.

“We want to be in F1, but with the big teams at our side…and we can make a good car without spending €300 million. For the good of F1, I hope there won’t be a parallel championship.”

Didn't see this posted here yet, but it makes things even more interesting! It now seems some of the teams FIA could of used to fill the grid in the FOTA teams absence are now considering joining the FOTA series instead.

FOTA need to change their name. They can't have a rival series and have Formula One Teams in it,now can they.
I think places like Monaco will allow races for new series ,since who would go over there to watch manor f1 ,etc and not Ferrari,Mclaren, etc.
P.S. hey bud that avatars of your's is very NSFW,don't you think.

Great news! I hope the FOTA follows through and does their own series. The FIA has been a constant source of irritation in the last few years. Imagine a governing body with the good of the sport as it's first priority, not how much money it can make.

the only problem with the whole situation is that i worry that FOTA (or whatever it will be called!) wont be able to gat the logistics in place in time. That doesnt mean that they wont be able to do it, it just means it might not be smmooth for the first year. i mean it would add additional entertainment, its just a big operation. its gonna be a very interesting few weeks people!

From F1 Live:

The next deadline in the FIA/FOTA standoff may be several weeks away, according to McLaren boss Martin Whitmarsh. His fellow FOTA-affiliated chiefs met again on Saturday to discuss how to proceed in the wake of announcing the decision to plan a breakaway series.

But after the FIA postponed publishing a definitive entry list for the official world championship, many observers are now wondering what time pressure exists for a potential peace deal to be brokered – if any.

On Friday, FIA President Max Mosley predicted the tensions could continue until early 2010, when the first race of next season is looming large.

But Whitmarsh said at Silverstone that late July is the key date, and that until then FOTA is "open to finding a solution if we can."

"The teams are ready to discuss with anybody how we go racing next year," he said.
"I think by the end of July, everybody is going be progressively on diverging paths, so whatever separates us today will be greater by then.”

The political row had spilled into the grandstands on Saturday, with one group of spectators wearing 'FOTA rules!' t-shirts and standing before a huge banner demanding 'Max out'.

But if the breakaway group does split, it seems the rival series would have to make do without many of the current venues, according to the Straits Times newspaper.

The publication said Singapore's five-year contract precludes the Republic negotiating with another series, and that other hosts like Melbourne have similar restrictions.
